this song's obviously about randy's alcohol problems...in the sacrament documentary, mark was helping randy write lyrics for "track 9" which was "nouveau " which became descending. randy goes on to say something to the effect of "mark's been helping me out a lot with the lyrics, and some of them could be pointed at me". this is while the music for descending is playing in the background. hence, it's mark writing about randy's alcohol problem, from randy's point of view.
randy's alcohol problem is why there's no vocalization of the lyrics on "gospel", just random screaming. it's why randy picks verbal fights with the other band members, and it's why randy and mark got into a fist fight on the ashes of the wake tour. |

I'm pretty sure this song is about his family making him go to rehab. He talks about it in a recent interview (early 2007), that his sisters decided that it was best for him that he go to rehab, and until he did, he wasn't part of their family. |

It's not "the harsh truth" because it's something that didn't need to be said. If you believe that then good for you, however to rub it in to someone, is ignorant and unnecessary - and dare I say, very preachy? I don't have a problem with people believing what they want, but to throw it in someone's face like that disgusts me.
And no, it isn't the "harsh truth" if you have no belief in God or an afterlife. kthx. |

Mike has said it himself, this song is about a movie of the same name, which Burt Reynolds stars in. The movie is basically about a camping trip that goes awry and somebody starts drowing the people or something to that effect. It's basically famous for a scene where one male rapes another, I believe |
