Strong probability Maynard didn't write this. It has been admitted this is a song from a side project Maynard was involved in from 1995-2004 with Trent Reznor and others. Reznor is credited with the song in some way on Puscifer's site and considering the beat is very, very NIN-like, I'd wager it was probably written by him (mostly if not totally). Lyrics seem to be Reznor-esque too, IMO. I like the meaning of the song, but despite loving NIN, feel the beat makes the song played out after a dozen or so listens. The way Maynard sings the words is cool too at first, but after a while it just sounds odd and is part of the song feeling played out. |

This song is definitely my favorite, period (though I'm not sure how long that'll last, but right now I don't see my attachment fading away). The entire song is absolutely beautiful, but this part I feel is the most powerful and moving (lyrically AND aesthetically): Push if you still need my pain Cause I will never tell And scream if you still hate my name Cause I'll be where I fell |
