To answer your question, I interpret that line as him feeling as though the person has changed since they've been apart, and he is wondering if reminding him of the way he used to be would bring back the old him...or if he has really changed for goof |

I'm surprised no one has commented on this song!! Well anyway, I have always loved Bright Eyes' version of it, but then I heard the song on the OC and noticed it was sung by a woman...and I have to say that I really like this version. Anyway, I think the song meaning is pretty self-explanatory, it's about having sex or hooking up with someone without even the pretense of having feelings for each other. The different ending in this song (it didn't hurt me) vs. the bright eyes' ending (then hurt me) I think is really cool because the girl is saying that she just wanted a hookup too (whereas usually it's the boy who hurts the girl by only using her)!! Anyway GOOD SONG |

I agree with chkchk...the song switches between him remembering what it was like when they were together, and him remembering the night they spent together for a hookup that didn't really mean anything. The first verse is him remembering the relationship, then the second is him thinking about the hookup and how he's "become what he's always hated" because he never wanted to have sex without feeling...then in the third verse, he's still thinking about the hookup and how even though they didn't talk about it, there was still a connection between them (and then I held you closer than anyone would ever get). Lalala, GOOD SONG |

DUDE are you all 12 or something?? Or are you just stupid? I was really excited to find this site, because I am in love with Brand New and I was really interested to see some of the things people had to say about their music. But some of you really should not be listening to this music because you clearly do not have the mental capacity to understand it. You're definitely killing my buzz hardcore...so the least you could do is keep your thoughtless interpretations (i.e. "I think this song is about...suddent death...in Carolina!") to yourselves so that I don't have to struggle to weed out the retarded comments from the insightful ones. Thanks :-) |
