| I do not agree with that last interpretation one bit. I find this is obviously about a guy who's been through some bad shit lately, among those is a long lasting crush/relationship which didn't give him any benefits, and he has probably even fallen into depression. But he finds his "unintended" love , in other words, a soul-mate who appeared at the least expected moment/time, who is able to instill life in him once again. The problem is this girl lives abroad, and probably very far, and this guy's life is wreck, so in order to be with her he wants to fix everything before, he wants to be worthy for her. And the "Before You" line just means that his life won't be the same ever again since meeting this girl, a completely new life. Just my two cents. | |

I already posted my insight into the meaning of this song, but I have new information. Given how Matt is into NWO conspiracy theories, and these seem to almost always linked with the reptilian aliens, there is this concept in reptilian lore that half of the Earth's population are in fact soulless body containers(organic portals), used by the fourth dimensional reptilians to pupeteer and exert their will here on Earth. So really the "soulless" concept used in this song, can be taken literally. There are people who don't actually have a soul. The explanation of many of the earth problems suddenly become clearer if you acknowledge this... I still think this song is ultimately about Matt Bellamy, his personal vendetta against the unseen foreces and the four horsemen of the apocalypse(Look at the cover of Blackholes & Revelations). Watch how in the video the "Gemini girl", which imo symbolizes him, is gathering and "intoxicating" everyone, or rather opening their eyes to the truth. Note how he seems totally desperate when he touches his head with his fingers, he knows what's to come. Then at the end, heavy rains starts pouring(the great flood? catastrophe?), and then we are finally cleansed (the soothing end of the song). |

I do not speak english very good so I'm sorry if you dont understand something here. I'm not sure about what he is trying to transmit in this song, but I believe the story is all about him. The first verse talks about something growing inside him , some sort of feeling or desire, linked to himselft and to the world. And it all revolves around some "secret" that gives a lot of bitterness. The second verse talks of when matt was very young, like 6 year old or around. He might have been a very mind-gifted child , and he might have understood many things at that age not very common for a child of that age to be understood. Also , he might have "seen" many things a child that age shouldnt. He might have realized how "empty" , soul-less and unhearted can people be, at a very early age. The third verse narrates a certain moment in his life, when he became aware of what he could do in life. He noticed what his role was in this world. It could be a very important role, thus making him feel unstoppable. And the fifth verse , is directed to someone , I don't know who (maybe it is his concience telling him what to do?). Note that there is a subtle change from 5th verse to last verse. in the third line "our" chance becomes , "their" chance, noting that maybe he is not talking to his girlfriend in the "aborted phoetus" theory stated above(i'm not saying it is wrong, we don't actually know). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The main reason I belive all the song is about him is because in the New Born video, the girl has some strange simbols drawn on her forehead, and one of the is the symbol for the planet mercury in astrology. You might think astrology is a stupid thing and a fuss(I'm on my way to proove if it's a lie or not) , but knowing matt is interested in the occult , is it a coincidence that that symbol is painted on the girls forehead? I personally don't think so, considering Matt is a gemini , and what the girl is doing in the video. Matt once said that he doesn't mind giving his own intepretation to songs, but prefers people making their own interpretations. I could also understand as that he lies in his interpretations because he wants people to think and learn by themselves what each song is about. Hope it's been useful ;). |
