Seems like a critique on the American self-centered attitude. As we sleep comfortably and go about our lives, we forget and remain numb to the immense suffering of the rest of the world (our true, shared home). Yet, we are the very ones who have the power to try and change things... 'The Keepers'.

The song is about being the exception to basic psychological truths... hence the line "Sigmund Freud, Analyze this."
She is basically saying that she is doing everything the opposite of what these truths are... Ex. "I'm gonna destroy my ego" and "I'm gonna delay my pleasure" which is the opposite of human nature. We seek to achieve pleasure as fast as possible. |
