| You see, this song works on SO many levels, I think it's really hard to listen to it just once. It's found the repeat button more time on my c.d. player than anything else, I bet. In any event, only 28 posts, I think this was, but HOW? Why? Out of all the Reznor songs on the previous page, this should be higher up there. In any event, I just wanted to state that I honestly feel bad for Reznor in light of this song. I think he knows just what having God in your life can do for you, but with him, and for many other people, including myself, he understands that the reality of God is a mere fantasy. Someone to look upon life as your Guide, your Provider, and ultimate friend. I think it was a song about how he was forced to come to grips with the fact that there is no God, and to live in a world full of open-minded people, with full fledged faith IN God, is enough to drive you mad. I just feel bad for the fucker, and I wish I could be there to comfort him. :) I could be begging him please on my hands and knees. :P ;) Ohhhh yeahhhh. | |

I completely agree with xpankfrisst's remark. However, I would like to ellaborate a bit more on it. Yeah, it's about an obsession with rejection, but more on the girl who gives it to him. He obviously had to have a relationship with this girl, and no matter how much he wants to fix this, she refuses. Perhaps they still maintain a sexual relationship, ie. friends with benifits, but she doesn't show any more interest in that anymore. The chorus: For month's I'm sharing lungs I can't talk to her Cause she'll throw rocks at me Perhaps pertains to him having to agree with her, because he doesn't want to risk a chance in ruining it again, so his voice is silenced out by hers. If he speaks his mind, he will only be ridaculed and hurt in the end. But he wants to be with her, so either way really, this guy is screwed. Chino, if I ever find this girl, I'll dispose of her for you. Deftones are the greatest band as far as lyrics and rhythm go. Kristen |

I actually have this visual in my head whenever I listen to this song. This is the simplest format I know to get this visual across but I find it halarious. Okay, this guy takes his crush to the movies after a long period of just droning over her. They sit down with their popcorn, the previews come on, and he kind of starts to get nervous and begins to perspire profusely. He turns to her out of anxiety, and is at a loss for words. He figures just to come out and say it... (You can actually hear the panting in the background of this poor guy... kind of scary...) I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I only just met you before, but I can't understand you don't want me more. You may-be think I'm to smart and wierd, but that should only make you want to hear that, I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you (At this point like any girl really, she starts to get kind of freaked out by the guy's shaking hands, and heavy breathing... really kind of bothersome... ) You make me feel really unsure, but that should only make you feel secure. Although we've only known eachother a bit already, I can't sleep at night and I feel like shit At the end she rejects him and then he starts to go into a seizure. At this point the ambulance, a kind of wailing on the guitar that sounds like sirens enter the track at this point, takes him away but not before he screams out "I loooooove yoooouu" from the back of the ambulance, which can also be heard at nearing the dawn of the track.. Yeah, it's kind of a weird visual, but it works, man. Perhaps this song is just a novelty of some kind geared to make fun of stalkerish, psycho guys?? I don't know. Either way, I firmly believe that they should make a video based on my interpretation. I would laugh my ass off! |

Well, after reading all your guy's posts, I have to agree with the meaning behind the content for the most part. He obviously loves this girl, or is in serious emotional attatchment with her. He sleeps to get away, but he dreams only of her. Maybe if he could sleep forever he could always be with her and then it wouldn't matter if he forgot everything in his life because he'd be with her anyhow. But he tries to forget about how things are, and tried to focus more on the dreams because to him it is the only reality he wants to know.... I know I didn't say that so articulately, but I know you all know what I mean. :P |
