Islands – Don't Call Me Whitney, Bobby Lyrics 19 years ago
mcthom, milk does not make your bones weaker, that's ridiculous. Milk has lots of calcium, which your body needs, as well as vitamin D, which are also important to bone development. Studies show that we don't need the large quantities of calcium that we previously thought to maintain strong bones, but to say milk makes them weaker is just wrong.

The Strokes – Heart In A Cage Lyrics 20 years ago
And the Strokes used to be such a good band... What a gigantic dissapointment. Remember Is This It? Such wasted talent...

Modest Mouse – Australopithecus Lyrics 20 years ago
Australopithicus was an early ancestor to man, the predecessor to the genus homo. These were the guys around right after the ice age, hunting woolly mammoths and stuff, what most people would think of as cavemen probably.

Neutral Milk Hotel – Oh Comely Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah, Anne Frank again. It's a concept album. Anne Frank is a constant throughout the entire thing. You can look in every song on Aeroplane and find some reference to Anne Frank. As to what this song means, give me a break, nobody knows. Mangum is fucking brilliant, and this song is simply beyond me or you. Yeah, there's plenty of ideas that make partial sense, but in the end, it's best to just sit back and listen to perhaps the greatest song you will ever hear. And for the record, Mangum is a fucking poet... just listen to all the wordplay going on, especially alliteration. This song blows my mind.

Neutral Milk Hotel – Holland, 1945 Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah, the Anne Frank reference is completely obvious, though I don't really see Arriola as the little boy... how does that have any relevence to the song? Had Frank been an incredibly talented musician, I could see it, but to the best of my knowledge, she was not, thus I don't think that reference makes sense. Also, I agree that the second verse is about suicide. Bringing it all together, though, is the chorus: "But now we must pick up every piece/Of the life we used to love/Just to keep ourselves/At least enough to carry on." Despite the suicide of a friend, and the loss of this girl that he has an infatuation with, Mangum is saying that life goes on, and even after death, we must go on living. It's really a pretty straightforward song, for the most part, especially compared to most NMH songs. But yeah, Mangum is brilliant, for sure. There's never been a songwriter quite like him.

Sufjan Stevens – The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts Lyrics 20 years ago
I'd say, given Stevens' strong Christian faith and his tendency to write about it in his songs, it's safe to assume that there is another, Christian based level to this song, especially since the Superman/Jesus comparison is pretty easy to make.
