| New Model Army – Bad Harvest Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Perhaps it's just because I'm studying it, and am having to watch it over and over again, but the line 'Soon they'll be hunting for witches for the burning' always makes me think of the British horror film 'The Wicker Man', with Christopher Lee? | |

Samwalton, I completely agree! First time I heard this, I heard the last few lines and thought 'Hello, Pink Floyd reference?' I don't think it is, but it reminds me very much of a line in 'Mother' from The Wall: 'Mother do think she's good enough...... for me?' |

I agree. This song has such a lovely rhythm to it.... And both songs fit spectacularly. I wish that that 'planned 1984 musical' mentioned was actually made... I get the impression it would have been phenominal. And is this song about... Parsons, was it? I can't remember if that was the right name... Been a while since I read the book. But yeah, Parsons was handed over to the thought police by his children for allegedly shouting 'Death to Big Brother!' in his sleep, or at least something to the effect. He is taken to Room 101 to be brainwashed into loving BB. 'Daddy's brainwashing time.' However, the line about being 'well screened from the man at the top' confuses me slightly - is it suggesting that it's someone who thinks he can't be seen by BB and the Thought Police? If so, it'd be a different character... |

Wow........ I used to use the title of this song to describe a girl I was with who made my life miserable by running off with my mate. She used to rule my thoughts, and make me hideously miserable - she was my pretty noose. I'm glad to hear that I was quite close to being right about the term.... |

| The Fratellis – Ole Black 'n' Blue Eyes Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Hmmm... When I first listened to it I assumed it was about that girl who's hopelessly in love with you but you don't feel the same way... but you do feel sorry for her. 'Looks she's all alone She can bring a friend though she's not my kind of friend' He tries to keep her happy even though she's not what he'd consider his perfect girl... For example, she's clumsy: 'I can take the her waltzin just so she could kick my head in' But he can't help but pity those black and blue eyes :-) 'She keeps staring me out with her Ole black & blue eyes...' |

| He may have been joking, but at a gig Mark introduced this song as 'a song about roundabouts'... | |
| Nickelback – Savin' Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| God, I love this song... The new album is a lot better than I was expecting... Anyway, I had basicly no idea what this song was about - denied love was the only idea that sprang to mind. I never thought any more about it after guessing that. Thanks you guys, you've really opened the track out for me. | |
| Levellers – Belaruse Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Oh - one other reason for my suggestion... On the front cover of the single (on the audio cassette, at least) there is the radioactive symbol - I think this makes my case pretty likely... | |

| Could this possibly be about the Chernobyl disaster? The explosion of a nuclear power plant in Ukraine? There was a place to the north called 'Belarus' that was also threatened... I'm not sure on this, but would love to know. | |
