Not much else can be said, the other comments pretty much cover it. I especially agree with bergeron, censoring takes away the power of this song. Yeah, there's some cuss words in it, but they don't seem to be in there just for the hell of it, as it is with most songs. |

This is an autobiographical tune. George Jones has this out now, and though it's not as good as Hank's version, I think it fits him pretty well too. |

AntiWinner22, I've always assumed that he was hit by a train.
illiniwek05, there's a classic boom-chicka-boom version on a few albums too.
This song is sad, but a very fitting Johnny Cash tune. |

| Kris Kristofferson – Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again) Lyrics

I gotta agree with Crush Hive here. Kris' voice wasn't the greatest, but he was able to sing well enough to be recorded. There are still those that diss his voice, but half of those with a good voice don't have half the writing talent of Kristofferson.
If there was ever an example of "painting a picture with words" this song is a priceless piece. |

Johnny Cash was a man that could take any song and make it his. When doing a song that had been recorded by someone else, he usually improved the song. However good his version of this song is, and it is good, it isn't better than Kristofferson's.
I suggest that anyone that doesn't know how Cash came to do this song read a bit about it, it's a nice story. |

Anyone who's ever had their heart broken knows exactly what this song means. This is without a doubt one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. Shame more folks haven't heard III's stuff. |

I think this song is about a guy that got involved with a girl that her liked, but knew he'd only be a toy for her to play with until she found someone new to keep her company.
Although she might've not meant the things she said, they still made him feel pretty good. Once she finally did leave, thinking of those things she said hurt him to the point of crying himself to sleep. But the tears eventually dry up and he can look back at the relationship with joy, and perhaps brag to his friends for hooking up with her.
Surely some of you guys here have chased after a girl that was 'out of your league' and finally got the relationship you wanted, enjoyed it, then she finally left you in a mess of emotions because you got a bit too attached. After the hurt goes away, you've got bragging rights over the rest of the guys. Right? Ironically, this happened back when I was 18. Thanks Amber, I had a blast. |

MY brother used to listen to this song quite a bit, so when I'd go over there for a night, I'd have to hear it a couple of times. One night I got drunk and kept singing the 'And I can't make it on my own.
(And I can't make it on my own.)
Because my heart is in Ohio.' for hours on hours cause those were the only words I knew. I annoyed him so much he put the song a CD and told me to learn the rest of the damn song. |

This song is awesome. I've heard it done in so many genres by different people. It's amazing when a song can be done like that. |

I had a cousin call me up one day and wanted to know if I wanted to meet her friend over the weekend. Blind dates usually suck, so I really made the trip to see the family and planned on staying until 9 or so that night at the latest, since it's about an hour drive away.
Then I see the girl and the jaw drops. We talked and watched movies for a while, and we just kinda clicked. There was something there. I didn't go home that night, and it was about 3 in the morning when she finally left.
All went well until a truck kept driving around us. My family live out in the country, so it was obvious that it was someone looking for her. The gut feeling in my stomach told me that it was her ex. My gut doesn't lie.
I heard this song coming home the very next day, and related to it. |
