| Kanye West – Dark Fantasy Lyrics

The whole song is about how he thought that if he could only hit it big, make money, and sleep with hot women, he would be happy (verse 1 through "King of Leona Lewis"). He still has the pain and emptiness inside and all the problems that were around when he was growing up persist in the neighborhood, so he is still haunted by them, but he is constantly looking to his wealth to distract him (cars as toys, three lines that he sings as if taunting someone as a child). The most intriguing part is the end. The seance refers to people getting together to talk to their dark feelings. They were all kids because they did not have mature perspectives. The sky filled with heron line could mean two things. It is either a reference to our lady of guadalupe, which would make sense since the children said they saw the devil, or it's a reference to the drug heroin. either way, he then relives his demons from the days he drove in a chrysler lebaron (his youth, which he references on another album). eventually that past overtakes him, but he flushes it away with pills and sex, waking up miles away or still inside an heiress (either way you look at it) and wonders how much more he can continue to numb the pain and how much higher he'll need to get next time. |

the fuck with the lights on part has nothing to do with porn. Kanye is saying people condemn their way of life even though they are doing the same thing. everyone is fucking, and doing so with the lights on allows you to actually see the person you're with. it has nothing to do with cameras. |

this song is about realizing your marriage has become a sham, but being unwilling to cope with it. instead he remedies the situation with prescription anti-depression or anti-anxiety medications that mask the problem, bring him back to his childhood, but he still cannot deny the fact that there is a problem. |

this is about a mushroom trip (poison growth=psilocybin mushrooms)...during the trip he reminisces back to the girl in high school and realizing he doesn't want to be her backup plan, he doesn't want to follow her anymore when she obviously rejected him...this is the last song he will write her after this enlightening experience (it is quite enlightening) |

this song is about addiction and giving up your drug of choice...it's pretty plain simple and straight forward...when you're hopped up on shit and you're detoxing, you can't sleep...and the line is "take apart the demon and the addict he defends"...taking apart someone's head=therapy at a detox clinic...saint writing down his sins is someone who is clean and taking care of him...the storm is the urge to consume again |

this song is not about being gay, although you can interpret it any way you want to....this song is really for anyone who is challenged to defend their actions that others see as incendiary...remember, people who stood up for civil rights were also seen as terrible people at the time...this is just another guy trying to stand up for what he believes is right and he (in the chorus and the bridge) is calling the people hypocrites |

since this song is titled after a casino, has anyone thought of the possibility that this song models the emotions felt by a compulsive gambler who goes to vegas to "hit it big" and ends up losing everything for his small-town, white picket fence family. He always sees the possiblity of success (seeing london) and is criticized by those who say he should stop wasting his money, but he believes he can make it if he gets a shot |

what a great song. I can't believe there aren't more comments. It's about the speaker daydreaming about a girl he loves so much. He can't let go of her and his dreams of them together, so he maintains the hope of having her kids, even if she's not there. His dream is perfect, though his life isn't and this makes him feel extremely fake, but he'd rather live in a world he feels comfortable in than the real world. |

| Brand New – Jesus Christ Lyrics

This is a great song. Keeping in mind that the whole CD is about a narrator's internal strife between his past evils, mainly the excess and debauchery commonly associated with popular musicians, and his newfound religion since the death of some friends (probably through drinking and driving if you listen to "Sowing Season" and "Limousine"). This song is a beautiful plea to Jesus Christ to save his soul. From "do i divide and fall apart" to the end is an incredibly moving song segment, musically and lyrically. He's saying that he knows Jesus is going to come back for him, but everyone is ready to crucify someone else for their problems. He's afraid that when Jesus returns to save him, he'll contribute to His demise. |

one of the most moving songs i have heard in a while. it basically gives the narrator's newfound perspective on life, but he issues it as if he is trying to convince his friends to follow him. he also adds a few statements about politics and society that seem to fly below the radar ("The God I believe in never worked on a campaign trail" and "you're beating with a book everyone, the book tells you to love" obviously separate statements of equal validity against both the President and elitist/militant christians, although the narrator does seem to allude to the fact that he believes in Christianity). This song is spiritually powerful because after the anger in YFW and the confusion and the sense of loss in Deja the band finally seems to take a move towards hope. That all the screaming along to sad songs in the car and lying around your problems will get you nowhere. it's time to face your problems. |

This song is easy to understand if you think about it. These three children were abandoned by their father, and their mother is embittered by the loss of her husband. She is so angry that she shatters her children's perception of love and happiness. Instead of actually caring about someone, they throw themselves away into "the tide". The ocean is a metaphor for a big unknown of emotion and pain that you often get lost in without help. That's when the narrator tries to warn you that the mother's advice was wrong, so don't get lost like these three did. |

i don't know if anyone else noticed, but this song, like every other song, is a reference to Chuck Palahniuk's work...the title "build god, then we'll talk" is a quote from Choke, by far his best book |
