Wow, I can't believe there are no posts about this song. This is definetly one of my favorite ones on the album.
In my opinion, the song is about a superior being, in this song, they say the government, but I think it could be taken as God. The superior authority plans everything as if it was a movie set, but it's real life. As real as it is, the world spins the same way over and over as life and history repeats itself in the same manner. We are just continuing what is planned and we don't stand up to it. The phrase Chronic Future in itself can be taken as recurring infinite time. The final lines of the song seal the deal for me when they discuss being comfortable just "continuing the circle" and not knowing/caring. But, that's just my take on the song and what it means to me. I'd love to hear other opinions. Sorry for any errors, I was really tired when I did this. |

I've always listened to the EP version and just recently heard the 1985 one and wow. It's amazing. I really was caught by surprise by the backwards part. I thought something was wrong with the CD at first.
But anyway about the meaning, I agree with most of you, I think it's about how the love's gone, and he doesn't want her to come back to him, or fall back on him so he thinks, "why wait for you?" That's just my take on it. |

This one's always been a favorite of mine. Too bad they broke up... I thought their lyrics were very well done. As for the meaning, I think it's about a guy who fell for a girl, but she left on him. Now he's willing to die to get her back, as he waits anxiously everyday for her to come back. I'm not too sure though. |
