i see plastic surgery in these lyrics. but not in just a general way.
He's commenting on the superficial nature of this woman, "it's in the way that she walks, her heaven is never enough". he's bored of the thing she's become, and perhaps wants the old 'version' back? |

to UK readers, Blaine most probably references david blaine. He performs many mind control/manipulation shows on television here in the UK. |

i view it on a more global scale. someone in a repressed regime perhaps.
"your freedom comes naturally"
some of us are lucky and are born with "natural" freedoms (not neccesarily democratic freedoms and such like) and this is an envious person without these freedoms, expressing his anger and lust of those in a higher position. |

i'm pretty sure its not a pro-religious song, or positive anyway. Megalomania on this album is an anti-religious song which sums muse's stance up on the subject i reckon, so whatever this one means, its certainly not positive about religion. |

| Blink-182 – I Miss You Lyrics

i don't think anyone's dead in this song. its just a bad break up i think. you could read the song in one of two ways i reckon, both of which stem from the main chorus.
Either: its all one person. the person who came off worse in the relationship may have been the reason they split up. They're trying to act as though it hasn't hurt him/her "don't waste your time on me..." but in-fact they still miss the other (as seen when mark sings "i miss you")
Or, it's two people in the relationship. One saying they're over it, the other saying they miss the other obviously.
I'd go with the first, "where are you? and i'm so sorry!" i think the person on the recieving end of the split (the one in the chorus) cannot beleive they drove the other away. "will you come home and stop this pain tonight." overall, the person wants the other to think that the break-up means nothing to them, but in-fact it hurts badly. |

for the people who think rage are just a gimmick, you only have to listen/look at the lyrics of inside out to know that that's not true. some of the stuff he says live before playing the inside out stuff is great, gives a real insight into his personal discontents and pre-ratm thought. Zach has always been a socialist, always will be. he'd never do soemthing he didn't beleive in. |

'mysteryslugs' what do you mean its not really zach's thing to use metaphors? "you're friendship is a fog, that dissapears when the wind re-directs" a hell of a lot of zach's lyrics are metaphors.and 'flanger' are you sure that's what the song was written about? unless you heard it from zach, every view is an interpretation. wouldn't you say? |

good lyrics to this song. its really great to see that zach experienced stuff like this song talks about before going into rage. i sometimes wish rage had done a song about this kinda stuff, dealing with issues like this, as a break from all the politics. don't get me wrong, everything they've done is amazing, but doing a song that really is straight down to earth, raw emotion, would be great. i suppose they did do born of a broken man which was absolutely amazing. |

This song is SO funky. they really should have released it. i reckon zach didn't think the lyrics fit with the rest of the first album. really great song, would have loved to have heard a better recording of it. It's a shame that they didn't publish the real lyrics. i've seen a different version of lyrics than to these, but they were wrong too. maybe if someone puts them together they can make a better attempt at the right ones. |

I have no idea about American history and/or politics (apart from the corruption!) so don't ask me about the meaning. it's a fucking amazing song, so much rage! watch the reading festival video of this song live if you're angry, you will love ratm even more.

great song. someone above said bellamy had said that the album wasn't politically motivated? i'm very surprised to hear that. I myself think the album is very political, or maybe just based on strong morals. either way, excellent lyrics on this album. this song refers to war in my oppinion. |

This song is from the original Rage Against the Machine demo tape which includes autologic and mindset's a threat. I'm not gonna analyse the lyrics, but when you hear this song, you really can hear where audioslave came from. You can see why they didn't put it on the real album. Funky song though. |

And if the vibe was suicide
Then you would push da button
But if ya bowin' down
Then let me do the cuttin'
I think the first half of this is pretty obvious, but i think the second half means that if you follow the crowd, you are prone to 'losing your head'. as in becoming ignorant to everything around you as you follow this crowd. |

Catchy and funky, but pretty low-standard for RHCP. I think the first comment was made by someone who expected more, and i agree. 'Spose we'll see what the rest of the album is like. Stuff like this is easy for rhcp to write. Lets have somemore californication style stuff. |

It frustrates me to see this 'punk rock' band writing music against corrupt systems. It's the same with Greenday. They really should just stick to writing about random shit that's in their head instead of trying to make change through unintresting lyrics and hardly powerful music. Leave that to the pro's of rage against the machine and system of a down. It's actually quite interesting if you compare this 'Anti-radio' song to Vietnow by Rage. I'd say there was no contest... |

| Rage Against the Machine – Wake Up Lyrics

This song is just rage summed up in one. It's their whole message rapped into one, hate and angerfilled song, with some fucking amazing riffs (the way Tom plays the intro on his guitar is just amazing!). I love the way they link some of the lyrics to their other songs, and then quote the government. Zack couldn't have done a better job.
On the argument which is going on above, i agree that those little shits (although a lot of the time it is also older guys) who wear Che Guevara t-shirts and jackets need to get an education and learn about what they are wearing (although the education they would get would probably be anti communist so that isn't much help!).
On the Communist argument, I beleive that communism would work if America and the other powers surrounding them would not keep on pumping money and propaganda into bringing down their systems. People who call communism evil and just dismiss it do not realise that they are actually acting as part of a system which is as 'bad' as communism, but on the otherside of the spectrum. America is slowly turning into a fascist state, and Rage recognised this. I guess through this song and their other songs they hoped to let other people know what was going on. |

Very funky song. Meaning is quite marxist which i completely support. Although it probably has nothing to do with it, the song relates to the chartist movement in England in the mid 19th century. |

| Rage Against the Machine – Ashes in the Fall Lyrics

Chupon, good analysis. However, i'm not sure it's all about genocide. I beleive, contrary to your belief, that it is about Palestine and supression by the Jews. The main line which infers this is:
"Listen to the fascist sound
Take hope here
War is elsewhere
You were chosen
This is god's land
Soon well be free
Of blot and mixture
Seeds planted by our
Forefathers hand"
This refers to -in my opinion- how zionist Jews told Jews in Germany, that Isreal (or Palestine as it is rightfully called) was the holy land and that this was where they should come and settle. The Jews after all, beleive that they are 'Gods chosen people'.
Also, on these lyrics, just after the line "open up to greet you, like the reaper!" during the solo, zack shouts "Oasis! This is No Oasis!" which I think means, contrary to what the Zionist Jew's say, Isreal is not the great place that they preach.
Anyway, this is how I interpret the song. I could be completely wrong, but I like to think i'm right! |

Great song. Personally, i think it's about god "every drop of flame, lights a candle in, memory of the one, who lived inside my skin" - the one being God. Anyway, some people mentioned Tom Morello. With rage he will always be the best guitarist in the world, but audioslave he can't be. Rage brought out the best in him - no doubt. |

Generally about the control of the mind through "education" and the different aspects of it. For example, "i'm inferior, who's inferior?" refers to religion, and being taught that we are inferior to "god". Then I think the song does quite a clever thing which i might be wrong on. It goes to the global scene, and I think makes the irony of the US being "taught" by the EU and the ignorance caused by this. Oh and, these lyrics are wrong. It's supposed to read at the end: "take it back y'all" rather than "Joe". |

This song is more specifically about radio, not just the media. It speaks out against the right-wing radio stations that attempt to control the masses by stopping them opening their minds. "Check out the new sound that ollie found" refers to Oli north, whose conviction in the Iran-Contra scandal was overturned on a technicality. He then started hosting a right-wing radio talk show. |
