This song is another example of Dustin's genius. Something everyone can relate to as they struggle with their commitment to God or another I guess it could work too. but even though they want to live for God this doesnt make it easy and the song acknowledges our weakness as humans and he leaves it in God's hands asking him to call him and give him the strength to live for God. This is something i can really relate too and i think that is what is so great about a lot of his stuff is that everyone can relate it to their own life someway and even interperet the lyrics differently. |
Dustin Kensrue – Blood & Wine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is one of my favorites from the new album, truy amazing both lyrically and musically. A bluesy folk song about how someone's life is changing as they have found God. The theme is perfect, Now that I've tasted Blood this wine is too thin, meaning once he has found God (blood - communion, last supper) sins and other pleasures from life don't mean anything to them anymore and all they want is to serve God. |
Dustin Kensrue – Please Come Home Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah this song is an allusion to the prodigal son parable from the gospels. amazing story and song, it is about how God will let us stray away but he always wants us to come back to him and welcomes us back afterwards. He always will love us and invite us back into His kingdom. |

Thrice – Weight Of Glory Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is easily summed up in its last line, 'take up your cross before your crown' as taught by Jesus but an important lesson for all (even non Christians) as you probably already know this song is an allusion to the gospels and also to the book 'the weight of glory' by C.S. Lewis, another Christian writer, i just got the book and havent had the chance to read it yet but i'm looking forward to it and am sure it will be as powerful as this song. other songs by thrice inspired by c.s. works include as the ruin falls, abolition of man, that hideous strength, the earth will shake (off of poem called the prudent jailor), this song is clearly about Christianity just as most thrice songs are and although i agree someone early posted this sentement with the wrong words they were right in the meaning of the song. Thrice is definitely a Christian band, every album they have put out has had songs about their relationship with God...early songs such as identity crisis, torch to end all torches, t&c up through pretty much the entire vheissu album, its B-sides and even Dustin's solo project. check out flags of dawn too, its another great song about Truth. I love the part at the end of the last verse that goes 'so let's find a place where sight begins, and see the things that we saw when our eyes were bright and wet against the light' |
Thrice – Identity Crisis Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is definitely about someone and their struggle with their commitment to God. realizing that only through God will they find true peace and recieve salvation, (a test of faith, pray help me see this through, i put all my trust in you) he prays that God "fall afresh on [him]" and "End this crisis of Identity...Please take all else away, hear my cry, I beg, I plead, I pray", please God remake me and help me live "in Your strength and I will live and die both unto you. " |
Thrice – That Hideous Strength Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about how in the world today ppl dont care about eachother, this person is crying out and nobody listens.(o that i, could scream, and all the world would listen.. but who has ears to hear) He says he wishes the world were not this way, rather it would be God's way(in truth that supercedes the mind of man) feeling hopeless one can only turn to God for strength and guidance (our dead hope....without You i am lost, let mine eyes not fail with looking upward) |
As I Lay Dying – Forever Lyrics | 18 years ago |
iamamachinegun was exactly right about this song, Tim Labesis wrote it this song about how he felt when he gave his life to Jesus, not about a girl. This song has power to it, it describes real feelings about someone in their relationship with God. also whoever said that AILD doesn't have melody is wrong, Forever, along with many from new cd Shadows are Security, contain melody along with screaming. As I Lay Dying pwnzors killswitch anyday |
