This song is amazing. Unfortunately for me I was with my friends watching SNL when I saw him perform for the first time tonight (teared up). I was entranced from his first piano stroke in this song .. then I listened to the lyrics and, yeah, this has to be about a girlfriend dying. ~7 months ago my girlfriend of 1 1/2+ years passed away in this terrible car crash, drunk driver ran into her mini cooper at a stop light going 80mph+. She was taken to the ER and only lived as long as she did from the life support .. long story short, I was there when she passed, and I was maybe two weeks shy of proposing to her. Golly, this song's title is perfect; 'Goodbye My Love' encompasses the fact that this woman was both his loveR and his *best friend*. I could bore you all with the details of how perfectly our relationship coincides with this song, but I'll spare you. Don't drink and drive, people.. please. R.I.P. |
