| Damien Rice – Delicate Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "Hallelujah" doesn't not have to be religious, people. It just adds further depth into the affair that is - though perhaps forbidden - in the end, something sacred. | |
| Stone Temple Pilots – Plush Lyrics | 20 years ago |

A guy finds out he's being cheated on and lied to: "...Time's a wasted go...lies to come..." "Where you going with that mask I found..." This line is referring to the "mask" that she wears - maybe in front of him, maybe for other people. He discovered she is completely different that what he initially thought she was like. "...so much depends on the weather..." A body decomposing...etc. "...so is it raining in your bedroom?" The "bedroom" is her grave. "...the dogs begin to smell her..." Whether they're cadaver dogs or not, it doesn't really matter THAT much, I don't think. "Will she smell alone?" Are there other bodies? I love this song. So what if it's about rape or kidnap or some sick psychopath? It's still beautifully and intelligently crafted, very poetic. |

| The Rolling Stones – Beast Of Burden Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| He's TRYING to convince her (and even himself) that he WON'T be her beast of burden anymore, but it's not true. He will do anything for her, even though she treats him poorly, just to be with her. | |

One of those truly great power-ballads. Just that desire to be free and that great feeling of infinite possibility...god, it's beautiful. |

"Using ideas as my maps...." I have that line tattooed. There's no way anyone can dispute the beauty of these lyrics. It's poetry by a genius poet. |

| Bruce Springsteen – Thunder Road Lyrics | 20 years ago |

How can you not sing at the top of your lungs along with the line....OOOOOOOOOOOH OOH THUNDER ROAD OH THUNDER ROAD OH THUNDER ROAD? "So you're scared and you're thinking that maybe we ain't that young anymore..." "Waste your summer praying in vain for a savior to rise from these streets..." "There were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away..." These few lines are just absolutely gorgeous. The whole song is genius. This is one of the few songs I wish I had frikkin' written, and I don't say that about just any song. |

| Simon and Garfunkel – America Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I just love how from even the first few lines, there's this whole bittersweet feeling to it. Throughout the entire song, you can just feel it spiraling down...the cigarettes, the spy, the empty feeling...all leading up to that gorgeous line "counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike." That line is absolutely beautiful, and it conveys such a profound feeling of chaos and being so lost in the midst of it. The lyrics are truly amazing. | |
| The Beatles – Two of Us Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| Fleetwood Mac – Sara Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Like vincent h. said, their lyrics are not overly-complex, but going along with that, something about the lyrics is so graceful in its very simplicity. Their lyrics prove that you don't have to have complex lyrics as long as you're able to somehow communicate complex emotions, and they do it perfectly. It's a sign of genius. "When you build your house, call me home..." God, that is so beautiful. |

This song is amazing. My favorite line has to be "damn your love, damn your lies." What a swift and precise kick in the gut. |

Actually, I think it's "baby" too, but the default version of lyrics I see most for this song has it as "maybe." *shrugs* This has been my favorite song since I was a kid. Something about it that really grips you and doesn't let go. The guitar solos are absolutely gorgeous in its simplicity and clarity. They fit the lyrics of the song so well. |
