"sucks me in, taking a ride
and i'm wishing for the satellite"
He hijacks a spaceship. Sucks me in is referring to the g's, and he wishes he would finally get up into space.

"grabbing vein pulling down on the radio
laughing at the face that's bending down"
He attempts to radio home, but the mission control laughs because he got himself in this situation.

"i'm all alone so far up here
and my oxygen's all gone"
He's up there all alone (duh!) and he doesn't have enough oxygen to last until somebody comes to get him.

"bend the metal
my glory box has failed"
He thought doing this would bring him glory. He was wrong.

"we're rocking in our reclining chairs
drive away that car
that brought us all this harm
those are the pieces of my story line"
It's all coming together to him, and his buddy took the car. He realizes how good a story it would be.

"truly stressing realization
i wish i was an astronaut"
He finally realizes he's not an astronaut. This is not something good to realize while in space alone.

"eight hour bitterness all for whose sake
stain glass sunday school charades"
It takes 8 hours for all the oxygen to run out. Church classes tend to focus on odd events that happen, so this means everyone is talking about him.

Nirvana – Sappy Lyrics 20 years ago
I always took this as a girl being obsessed with a guy, but the guy didn't give a fuck about her. The guy could do whatever he wanted to her, and she would deal with it. The girl hates what he's doing to her, so she hurts herself to pretend she's totally happy. The girl is fooling herself into thinking this guy is perfect and she is making him happy, when he really isn't perfect. He is making fun of her for being so naive, and taunting her is making him "happy."

This song has so many snippits of later ATD-I songs, undoubtably poetry Cedric wrote, which later became songs.

"in the walls, we heard family dying
while the band played on
told sky to leave to the east bay clone
weren't you taking me home"

that always reminded me of the titanic.

At the Drive-In – Give It A Name Lyrics 20 years ago
I love this song! It's definitely about "The Cask of Amontillado", by Edgar Alan Poe.

"walked the tired steps of latter day friends"
Montresor is taking Fortunado down the catacombs.

"never thought this day would come"
refers to how excited Montresor is.

"you threw the bricks that built this wall"
Montresor bricks up Fortunado.

"amontillado! at the top of your lungs"
is when Fortunado is getting bricked up while screaming for his amontillado.

"i can't hear you anymore"
Fortunato dies.

"and maybe i'll see you in twenty years"
is referring to how the catacomb where Fortunado is isn't open for 50 years.

"silver platter opportunity"
is how Montresor plans 'the perfect murder' by establishing an alibi, during the carnival season so nobody would realize Fortunado is gone, while everyone is drunk.

Thanks for reading my interpretation, we had a big discussion about this story in my English class and I brought this song up..
