I have heard three versions of "It's Raining Men", the original 1982 Weather Girls version, the 1995 version by drag queen singer RuPaul and Weather Girl Martha Wash, and the current 2001 version by Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell herself. I am American, so Ginger's version wasn't released here. So when I first saw the music video on YouTube, I found it pretty hard to believe that the Ginger with the blood red hair and lusty Union Jack dress during the Spice Girls performance at the 1997 BRITS would be a skinny and blonde Geri just four years later? Well, this song is my second favorite Geri solo song, after "Bag It Up". Just as in BIU, Geri proves that Ginger's indomitable spirit just can't be supressed by Geri. GERI FOREVER!!!!!!!!!! |
