Omg this song is so sad to me cause i can identify with it.I think that it's about a woman "melissa etheridge" who's trying to let go of a pain that hurt her badly,and maybe a lover who hurt her bad in the past,and she just wants to let it go or and it could mean this i read somewhere that melissa was molested by her sister,and i can identify with that because i was too,and i think the chorus " i will crawl through my past over stones blood and glass in the ruins reaching under the fence as i try to make sense in the ruins" is basically like learning how to accept your past,and the mistakes that you made or things that happened to you,and learning to be stronger from it too. |

I think that this song is kind of confusing to me because the lyrics are put together in a incomprehensible way.I read somewhere on a website that she wrote this song after the death of kurt cobain and that it was written for the young people who feel lost and who are searching for idols or hero's so to speak and about how god sometimes let's you down. but i could be wrong it's only my opinion and what i read about the song. |

I love this song! i think this song is about an lsd trip fused with an alice in wonderland twist to it .also showing that the parents especially from the era in which the song was written were down on their kids for using drugs and yet when they were younger they read them stories like alice in wonderland and wondered why their kids grew up to use drugs. |
