| Panic! at the Disco – There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| PS: And why is everyone breaking the first two rules of Fight Club? This song is trying to tell a story. Not tell a story about Fight Club. | |

I agree with the previous comment 100%, that this has nothing to do with Fight Club, but I just wanted to back it up a little. This sounds nothing like the book. Books have words. This comment has words. Can you hear me right now? If you can I suggest seeing a psychiatrist. All jokes aside; the book was much more dark than the movie, which also has nothing in common with this song. I spent my youth trying to figure out the Fight Club mentality rather than follow it blindly(which was a lesson in the movie, not book though.) This song is mischievous, yes. And mocks people who think they're so great, yes. But in no way does that bridge this song and any measure of Fight Club. And now I will close this comment like the comment before this one for the reason of comedic effect! ... or is it? I hate you. You suck. |

My exgirlfriend broke up with me while I was in the hospital and left me for a guy she met on the internet; and had only been around him in real life for about a day. She left and went far away to the opposite coast of the country, making it impossible for me to get any decent closure. Alot of people have proposed that the song is about a couple that had a bad break up, and that she's surprised to see that he's done a complete change in character and he's got confidence in himself. You're all dead right. The song is all gameshow-ey to go along with the idea of Cancer, which is a popular or common disease that everyone has or knows of. The lyrics sound bitter, but happy, thus making the tone sound obscured somewhat two faced. I feel it's better explained through my personal tie-in: She moved back to home after everything went predictably wrong (moral: don't date using the internet). She ended up going to the same college as I and we bumped in during admissions. Since then she's been fascinated, then jealous, of my new reputation, confidence, and wardrobe. I have made atleast two of her parties miserable just by being there, because she can't stand my social success. This story is very egotistical and vain, but this song fits my situation so very well, which is moving. Weather or not that was the original meaning of the song, that's what it means to me: Girl not being able to stand Boy's new ability to live, and Boy secretly using that to further upset Girl. |

While I made my previous post months ago, I had no idea anyone would read it and take it seriously and give serious responses. Obviously I stand corrected: none of you are on crack, just PCP. I never thought about censorship being a theme/meaning, so thankyou for the well-written thought to those who proposed that. After months of still listening to this song, I still think that there is a strong sexual element to the lyrics, however I'd agree that its not what the song is actually about. You must understand, my judgmental tone came from the agitation that I had from reading the menial posts before mine. Reading well-written responses has been a pleasure to read. |

oooooookay. The meaning of this song I feel was meant to be open to interpretation, but there are still limits to what can be taken into consideration when interpreting this. We have three things here: Environment, Government, Media. All of those relate to eachother but the lyrics posted ARE wrong and the correct ones still aren't specific. So to break it down, I feel that the song is refereing to how average day to day people, people you you see everyday, just consume resources, and ignore the real problems with the world, and produce more waste as they consume other things, which hightens the demand for resources which is a real problem so people ignore it and produce more waste yada yada yada you see where that one's going. Someone used the very apropriate word, about how the song ENCOURAGES us to not give into the horrible aspects of American Culture that constantly warps our minds. I mean the music takes a really really serious turn to help point that out when he sings "So please believe your eyes of sacrifice, its not what we had in our minds." And the music video was just a bunch of people forcing the city to recognise a bunch of issues that we (as an apathetic society) don't really pay attention to until something bad happens. Say like a lawsuit against McDonalds, or hearing about 100 tigers that were killed for illegal Chinese medicines. So the actual meaning of the song, is simply: stand for what you stand for, take action, and give it all. |

| The Impossibles – Connecticut Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I agree that this song is about someone moving out of Connecticut but I wouldn't nessasarily say its a girlfriend, though in 9/10 cases of people putting this on a mix tape or something I'm sure it was to a girlfriend. The song is very blunt and straight to the point, which I think is hardcore cool. The Impossibles have some really good lyrics though not all of their music is in my tastes. My only question is why is a band formed in Austin, Texas writing about Connecticut? | |

Are you all on crack? (please don't answer that question) This song is obviously about sex, nearly all MSI songs are. If you want to get into the meaning of this song, you'll find that the lyrics are in the first person, which clearly express enthusiasm and anticipation for future sex. Okay, maybe I'm being too logical. But lets take this in context with the music video of the store clerk headbanging, singing, freaking out, attacking customers, and exploding. Sure there's random killing and such, but its clearly an illustration of a guy who can't wait to get out of work so that he can get the wild crazy angry action that he wants. "I can't wait for you to shut me up/knock me up/fuck me up" That pretty much is literal. As for the song itself? Oh, it kicks ass. The Whips? I don't really hear the whips as much as I hear the bass, the rock, the mic, the treble. *head bangs to song* Wait. I heard one. Fuck. You crack heads win. |
