type "nirvana - half the man I used to be" in any peer to peer music sharing program and i guarantee you'll get results. Scott sounds so much like Kurt in this, to state the obvious.
This song is about getting old and realizing things become uneventful and less meaningful. i particularly like the lines "think you're kinda neat/ then she tells me i'm a creep." you can easily picture scott approaching a younger woman at a bar and seeing this take place. |

This song doesn't make any sense to me. It sounds like he's singing about someone in the reserves/National guard, someone who isn't a full-time soldier.

Can't this verse mean there was an intervention with the suicidal kid, with him, the guy singing, and all of their friends?

"Well he's on the table" could mean he's sitting down and eveyrone is trying to talk to him.
"And I do not think anyone knows what they are doing here" means all the friends no they are there to intervene and stop him from doing something, but not sure exactly why.
"And your friends have left too, you've been dismissed" means everyone kinda gave up on him, thinking he's okay, that or the kid won't open up, so eveyrone but the guy singing leaves.
I've also heard this "jumper" was homosexual, and how he was afraid to admit it to parents, friends, etc. |

Personally, I don't want Pearl jam to go down the politics lane like Green Day did. Hopefully this song is one of the only political songs, but the rest of the songs better rock balls like this one does.

Unlike that faggot ass band we call Green Day, Pearl Jam does a lot better in the opinion department. Eddie seems to be merely stating here how he doesn't like what Bush does, and sings it well, as Greenday will go out and attack conservatives and bash eveyrone that doens't agree with them make up wearin' homos.
I support a few reasons why we are in the middle east, but I do kinda feel that Bush is just pawning around soldiers lives a little too easily. I don't know the whole story.
This song, lyrically, comes off as Bush just being a monster and doesn't care about soldier's lives. I think that might be a little stretched. Bush was in the military, and I'm sure it hits him relatively hard when he here's about soldiers dieing.
This song at first sounded mediocre to me. I heard it on the radio a couple more times and I realized it was a really badass song. It rmeinds me more of PJ's older days, which, I may say, the songs then were priceless. |
