I thought LBC = Long Beach City? I live on the east coast, but I've been in that area and I remember driving down some highway heading away from LAX and seeing the giant, green "Long Beach City" exit sign. |

You're right, if you listen to around 2:33 into the album version of the song, he definitely says STONE-DUH. I will admit at other points he does not emphasize that and you could argue it as STONE, but even if that is the only time he says it, combined with referenced to poppies, being low, junkie cosmonauts, etc. it is silly to think that this not about opiates in some way. |

I actually heard this song for the first time on the radio the other day and the DJ said the song is about a very greasy and dirty hamburger joint in Cali. It sounds like it's in a crappy location, but there is a sense of peace of togetherness when hanging out there. |

Xia, I think you did a good job breaking it down, but I think your pot reference might be a stretch. (fyi, I'm not ripping, making fun, flaming, etc, just thinking out loud). I definitely think there are obvious H references and he is struggling as to why a girl in his life does not want to feel the rush he gets from H.
Don't you think all the 2nd person references ("wanna take you down", "don't you wanna go down?" would infer he is speaking (or wants to speak) to someone, most likely a girl?
I totally agree that the usage of "stoned" lends heavily towards MJ usage, but he does say "like being stoned", and stoned can sometimes be used to describe being on H.
Don't know, I just think it is a really cool song and I wonder if anyone has any links to an interviews or anything that could lend some insight into it. Until then, keep the comments coming! |

I have listened to this song a ton of times, and I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of it. It is about a guy who has an addiction to narcs, probably heroin, which he describes in several places. Sometimes "he walks the street behind of green sheet of glass" refers to him walking around while high and feeling completely separated from all the hustle and bustle around him. All the references to being "low" are just another adjective to describe the high, where you are so calm and relaxed and cocooned that you are operating at an existence much lower than everyone else. So low that you are "a million miles below their feet".
Anyways, a new love has come into his life. This girl doesn't do that stuff, and sometimes he wishes she did it with him, asking her "don't you wanna go down? / a million miles below their feet?" But he still is very happy with her despite her choice to stay away from the drugs. In fact, being with her is comparable to tthe high he feels. |
