i like this song...like, the best (not over played) song by franz ferdinand... I like it cuz most of their songs sounds like the beatles.... or maybe thats just me. Well, I come from north america, and thats pribly why... I heard that all american alternitive rock bands sound like good charolette to england-ies, and thats just mean!! well, I think this songs probly about how everyone should stop wanting things like makeup and perfume and beauty just cuz magazines tell you that itll make you life better, cuz it wont. they're saying that your life and the lives around you can be so much better if you actually do something and make a change in this totally screwed up world of ours. ta, me. |

I agree with most of the people on this, but I would just like to add one thing: "I swear I'd burn this city down to show you the light" that might tie in with what imnotanartist said, about how it's all about media and crap like that. it might mean that they'd rather tear down the media-related towns like hollywood to show everyone "the light", which often represents truth. so, "city" means "media", which also means "lie", and "light" means truth. with a few revisions, that makes the line look like this: "I swear I'd burn the lie down to show you the truth" sounds dumb, but that's why patrick put city and lights down instead. and that really ties into what under the cork tree's about, as another cork tree song said, its about "hearts, lies, and friends." |
