After hearing what DJ Hangedman said about it, I really see how much this song reminds me of Christmas (I know, 'Darkwave Christmas song?? WHAT. THE. FUCK?!'). Now my analysis is going to avoid too much of going this way or that as I don't want to spark religious debate over it; this is just lyrics after all.
It sounds as if it's the thoughts of Mary before the birth, how she could could have thought how she was incorporated into the plan of a savior. The song repeatedly mentions pain, the pain of childbirth, and how the narrator has to endure that pain as whatever it was is a "noble act" as well as the spark of a "better world".
It also mentions angels calling the narrators name, the narrators comparison to them ("Although we are men, with mortal sins, angels never cry") and how "We will be your light", with 'we' being Mary and Joseph as images of this time.
And to top it off: the damn title of the song is Winter Born, with December commonly associated with Winter in the northern hemisphere. |

This song reminds me so much of a post-apocalyptic future and how humans have created it. The lines "A million points of light ascending to the sky
Monuments in darkness standing watch until the sun will rise " are symbolic of a world on fire; the "million points of light" refers to the sparks from the flames and the "monuments of darkness" are reference to what has already been burned and left in ashes. |

Anyway i feel this song is about how we achieve such goals in the future, but never seem to change the way we see the world. After thousands upon thousands of years we have fought eachother never realizing that it can stop, but we never do. The dreams we should have achieved and standards that should have changed have not.
