| A Silver Mt. Zion – 13 Angels Standing Guard 'round the Side of Your Bed Lyrics

I was listening to this song when I started watching a compilation of nuclear explosion footage on youtube. The video had some shitty trance soundtrack so I turned off the sound and continued listening to this song. It turned out to be an effective soundtrack, the footage shown in the video looked a lot more dramatic and just plain creepy. It even gave me goosebumps and seeing al that destruction with this song playing in the background almost brought tears to my eyes, it was really weird. |

| Jesu – Conqueror Lyrics

You know scooper, this song might actually be about acid after all, I just read an interview with Justin Broadrick and look what he had to say about the album:
"Half of Conqueror is about drugs," Broadrick says. "Some of it is recounting some experiences that I've had one on one with drugs and with nature, through acid and things like that. Some of the best trips I ever had were either very isolated or out in the woods, seeing nature on that level, the ultimate power of nature as opposed to us.
"Not that I'm suggesting that anybody do that."

Great instrumental. It makes me feel like I'm travelling through space or something... I remember earleir this year I went to see Danny Boyle's "Sunshine" and I kept thinking that this song would have been a perfect addition to the (allready damn good) soundtrack, heh. |

This is one of my favourite songs ever! I love the distorted female vocals during the bridge!
And about the meaning I think walruspancakes is pretty much right. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Zero-Sum Lyrics

I think that in the story of Year Zero (for those who have been living under a rock on Mars: Year Zero is a concept album) this song, together with In This Twilight and Another Version of the Truth is about how the world is coming to an end, and how everyone is finally coming together and reflecting on our history as a species.
I also think that there is some hope in this song, hope for a new beginning, hope that there will be survivors who will start all over, and who won't make the same mistakes again.
I also think that "they" refers to The Presence, you know, those big hands coming down from the sky, but I could be wrong. |

Does anyone know what the "noise" is that starts at around 1.30? Is it an instrument? A synthesizer? Or si it Maynard's voice, only heavily distorted? I'd like to know, it sounds very eastern and it's really cool. |

It's fake, Tool never cocered this song, I allready heard it and the voice doesn't really sound like Maynard (it does sound like someone trying to be Maynard
Also, Tool doing an ACOUSTIC version of a NIN song somehow doesn't really make sense to me. |

I agree with shnugen 17, the narrator (maynard?) opened his third eye using acid or shrooms or something like that and now he's doing it again using intense meditation
Oh and sysys nearly ruined the song for me, asshole :p |

I think I'm going to agree with Lamb of God, I also thought that was the meaning of this song, but it could also be about TVT (or both maybe)
All I know is that I'm staying far away from the music video... |

Like somebody said here before, the guy shouting "hello, is there anybody out there?" is a sound clip from the classic horror movie "day of the dead" part of John A. Romero's Trilogy of the dead (well actually it's a quadrilogy now, he made a fourth movie) these movies have inspired Gorillaz's work, the intro on demon days for example is a remixed "song" from the Dawn of the Dead soundtrack... |

Hmmm, I don't think this is about the media, remember this was on PHM and Trent was most likely not famous yet at the time he wrote this.
This song rocks, one of the best on PHM, I also love the live version on "and all that could have been", it's almost better then the original |

Sometimes when I look around me, to all the idiots in the world (including me :p ); the many shallow and egocentric people at my school, people making money out of the suffering of others, people killing eachother for stupid ideals,... At times like those I just can't wait to see a giant meteor fall from the sky and whipe out mankind...
So when I firs heard this song I thought it was pretty cool...
Now please don't think I'm one of those people who is constantly awaiting the end of the world, I'd piss my pants if I heard a giant meteor was about to collide whit earth :p |

This song has the most depressing lyrics I have ever heard, but it's still a great song.
No wonder this song has the same title as the album, the guitar riff reapears often on the album, it was in in Heresy and at the end of Closer (obviously) |
