Sheryl Crow – Strong Enough Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I find that the chorus very sad. If there is no man who can truly love a woman during hardships and frustrations, then there's no man who's strong enough. It's definitely a call for men to be men. When a woman's left in such a circumstance that she would rather a man lie to her than to really love her, or to "Fake" emotions and sympathy, then I think it's because men aren't man enough to stay when the going gets tough. Where's the commitment? Don't make women beg like this. Strong, honest men seem to be few and far between. |
Sufjan Stevens – Oh God, Where Are You Now? (In Pickeral Lake? Pigeon? Marquette? Mackinaw?) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Where are all of the "This song doesn't have any Christian connotations" now? Yeah Mike, Sufjan has a way to profess without being over the top. What a great reflection on life, having difficulties to trust God without ever doubting Him. |
Sufjan Stevens – We Are What You Say Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The song sounds great. It has Mormon allusions, no? The Mormon "tabernacle choir", Utah, the center of the Mormon world, is known as the Beehive state... |
Sufjan Stevens – The Lord God Bird Lyrics | 18 years ago |
www.ivorybill.org has some more information on the Lord God bird. Perhaps an analogy... great god bird: God :: sewing machine : the industrial god (man). Is the lyric "alter call" right? Should it be "altar" call? "Altar Calls" are usually testimonies given. The bird's still alive, testifiying that it's made it despite technological advancements. Arkansas is truly still the Natural state: a good thing! |
