Taking a stab at the 2nd verse: "On a mountain, a city, not of gold, but of silver- through the blood He can learn, see the life that it turn From the count to the one He’s decided when he’s done with the innocent" Y don't these guys just save us the trouble,hehe. It's a beautiful song with a lot of feeling; once again. I like the energy of the bridge; i hope somebody understand the entirety of what i mean... (for starters that last note or the last time he says "Fighting off the world all around he can pay attention" is incredible on a whole host of different levels. |

The first time a friend played the song for me like 2 months ago the incredible feeling behind the song was like a ton of bricks. 30 stm have really flipped the script with this album-it's totally cool. | This song feels like Leto just had the REALLY short end of the stick in a relationship he felt very strongly about. I really love the feeling of it all. Another one of my favorites on this album. Do any guitar players out there just get REALLY inspired by this album? | |

| MrFokker- that's a great opinion; i like to look at life like an RPG coz there's VERY little difference... This is my take on the song: "try to let go of the truth; the battles of your youth; coz this is just a game"- Leto speaks such pivotal truths about the life of mortality. And i agree with MusicIsTheSoul (great screen name) for the most part; personally i wouldn't say he's saying life sucks by the lie makes it beautiful.I think he's saying that everything in existence is a lie; an illusion- but its beautiful by nature. | |

I agree with that interpreation; i'm not sure how many other ways one could look at this song but im interested in finding out. Especially seeing as i perceive my life as an illusion- a pack of 'beautiful lies' where 'i'll find myself in the end'. Yeah- Leto IS a songwriting genius. I think he ranks up there with Maynard James Keenan. |
