| Neil Young – Cortez The Killer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song strikes a deep chord with me for 2 reasons. First, because this song is one of my brothers favorites since he is a political history teacher and it means much to him since we are of spanish descent to know that one of our own wasn't an angel as the books would like us to believe. The same goes for Columbus. If you read the "History of the People", he was an evil fuck. Second, because as a student of college courses on Politics and Political Science, he represents the bottom of the barrel when it comes to socially destructive people. He's what I strive to prevent from coming into power ever again by my goals to become a political journalist. | |

| I have to agree with you on that. It certainly does have lots of references towards "time". This is a living metaphor then again all of Sleater-Kinney's songs are metaphors in general. The song has an awesome guitar. Simplistic yet unique. Completely reflects the nature of the song. Escape from a sad life. | |

I first heard this song from an ex-gf of mine who described this song as a good example of our lives and relations. That was 3 years ago. Fast forward to now. I'm 17 and now I know the song is true. I miss the woman I love(my ex Kat) and if I had swallowed my pride as this song puts it I would still be with her. Thus the song asks for their loved ones to not give up on them while fess up to their faults. That's my personal belief. I tend to be wrong lots of times... |
