to me, it seems like something horrible has happened in this guys life. i think the song sounds like the guy is in deep depression-i almost think he is in deep mourning. here is my semi-line by line analysis: So this is continuous happiness You know, I always Imagined it something more -his expectations have not been met-his life is shit basically( or at the current time because of whatever bad thing has happened) so there is dissatisfaction-number one cause of depression With the right drapes, the right paints The right frames, this could really work What a great day to spend indoors -he could be sitting in his room laying in bed (depressed) thinkin of how this could work-he could live the rest of his life feeling this horrible-just sitting in his room cause he might feel immobile to leave because his grief is so great- so perhaps the right frames,etc helps us to imagine a room and how he could settle with life not leaving his room anymore-because he doesnt want to go on Wake, wake up, wake, wake up -wake up out of this trance, this horrible feeling he is stuck in- he cant function he cant move- its almost as if he is sleeping-all he can do is lay there and continue to breath. he doesnt view life how he use to-now he is just going through the motions So where has all the day gone? -the days are just wasting/fading away (or life is)because he doesnt care-and he just doesnt understand how all that has happened has happened And why are my lungs aching when I breathe? Is there something wrong with the heat? Why am I so cold? And my heart feels sick And it hurts when I speak And this is not what I hoped for -this is what makes me think that something truly shocking has happened in his life-why i think perhaps a death. he is in so much shock that he cant breath. his body is freaking out basically. |
