does anyone know the translation of the arabic bit at the end? i know that the last line, "Haqq: la illaha il Allah," means, "Truth: there is no god but God." this is usually accompanied with "Muhammadun rasÅ«lu l-LÄh" which means roughly "Muhhamed is God's messenger." |

yeah i definitely think you should interpret this however you want but as a Christian this song really spoke to me and was reminiscent of thoughts i had directly before i came to Christ. "Wake up wake up my God this is not a test And it's not too late to come clean Get it off your chest" i remember the way i felt--God placed such a burden on me it was like He was screaming 'wake up!' and i had to get it off my chest. this next part is specifically for me i guess because i made a false profession [where you say you're a Christian but you really aren't] first and then a real one later. i remember thinking it was too late, i had already lied about it i can't go now-which of course is ridiculous, God will always accept you. 'its not too late to come clean' "Steady your hand before your face" its almost scary that they put this part in there. the time right before i came to Christ i was so convicted and stuff that there were times that i would literally be shaking and i knew i should answer His call. Thank God i finally did. "Tear another page from the book" there are parts of the Bible i tried to ignore because they were pointing me to God and i was resisting so strongly i didn't want to hear it. "made up of insatiable taste" insatiable means impossible to satisfy. that's what i was [and we all really are]. nothing could satisfy me before i became a Christian. "Just what are you so afraid of You're staring truth in the face, so come on down" pretty self-explanatory. the truth is right in front of me, why can't i just go to it? i don't know why i resisted so much. "You're busy living now aren't you You're busy making vows" its crazy that the vows thing is there because every week at church i kept promising 'i'll do it next week or after i leave' and finally i just couldn't take it any more and i let God have my life "Time is shorter than you know" sorta like, you could die tomorrow so make the choice now before its too late "I swear it's not too late for you It's all worth reaching for the hand to pull you out Wake up and step outside your box Wake up" Spencer's just imploring listeners if they've felt God's call not to ignore it and that it is worth reaching for I never regret coming to Christ [even thought He really came to me first i just responded]. it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Underoath rocks that they can put all these feelings together and it came out as the best song on the album. i've noticed this same sorta theme through the whole CD, but again, that's just what the music said to me. asweat08@hotmail.com |

alright correct me if i'm wrong, but in the video for this song, doesn't the kid look right at the camera at the end? i think he was got that dude killed on purpose, that's why he kissed the girl...he knew it would cause a ruckus with the fathers. then right before spencer busts out "I know there must be some way out of here and all of them will be waiting here," the little dude looks right at us...us the viewers i got goosebumps fo sho....thats probly why the vid is up for a grammy. and i think the song and video are totally unrelated but both awesome. |

i found where in the Bible it adresses the old man Romans 6:6 - knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin interestingly enough, this is like 'verse 666' [romans is the sixth book] crazy....i wonder if they planned that... |

| Project 86 – My Will Be A Dead Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i had an intersting thought when listening to this song. while i may be chasing rabbits- i initially thought when i heard the line "My trusty six shot, my own right hand" that this might be talking about when we do give up sin, or from this viewpoint kill it, we have to give up some of the things we like-- even our trusty six shooter. theres also a Bible verse that says that if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. this goes along with the whole killing your fleshly will thing. i thought that was kinda cool Project 86 rocks, but God rules. |

i disagree to a point with geoffk-- i think the title is saying that just because someone is gay doesn't mean you can't listen to them. i really like queen, even though i am against homosexuality. basically, i think we shouldn't judge them, its not really are place, but judgement will happen. there is One God, but all religions do not seek the same God. | Project 86 – All Of Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i think this song is pretty selfexplanatory they are sort of calling to God to take "all of me" and use them for His will also, like sincerely ichabod, its about getting junk[sin] out of your life--"severing all the hindrance" towards the end he sort of welcomes controversy--"But now they can try to beat it out of me, I'm welcome to the challenge of emergency" hes strong in his faith and confident that nothing can shake him Project 86 rocks, but God rules. |

i think this song is totally talking about suicide "necktie remedy" being a noose, and it talks about trips down the well and swinging from the necktie remedy and the "sugarcube mixture that saves the day" would be poison but it could also totally be about drugs or alcohol i agree thats what im gettin anyway |

my first thought was the game hangman "a game on scribbled paper"--that's what it sounds like and he sort of hinting at the "five letter word" he even says "ill draw the hanging man" "roadkill scent of violent city" i would guess is referring to whatever place in Egypt--it probly smelled pretty bad after all the Death Project 86 rocks, but God rules. |

this song is about getting the junk out of your life, and it makes a really cool metaphor about beheading this "ichabod." ichabod is a name that is used in the Bible which means something to the effect of "the glory is gone." he got this name because there was a battle in which eli and his two sons were killed. ichabod was eli's grandson. my favorite line is "So bored of losing ground to the heresy In our hearts." because a lot of times that's the attitude that i have in my Christian walk. it talks about "showing out" ichabod, which symbolizes the bad stuff in your life-"well take it all back and then some" and "well cut out all thats a hindrance" the only thing that i dont really understand is "bleed the old man" this could either be because ichabod's father was killed in the story, or i think it might be talking about the passage in the Bible which says that you should hate your family. it didnt really mean you should hate your family, it just meant "hate" compared to your love for Christ-- you should love God so much more. | Emery – So Cold I Could See My Breath Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
definitely agree with brandonissuperhot and christsidrider "We’re just the boys and girls that think they always know" we think that we are so smart a lot of times. turth is, we're not. we think we're so mature that we can be physical in a relationship, but that ultimately will just lead to pain. i think this is referring to sex. "Always trying what I can to be a child and not a man" goes along with the above. we think we are mature, but what we are doing is very childish. the truth is, we all want sex, we just dont want the consequences. alot of times guys will say "im havin sex cause im a real man" thats bull. it takes a real man to wait. that is also what he is talking about here. words turn into actions so quickly "my hands across your clothes, and me without a plan." this is the couple who has no idea what they are doing when they begin to get physical. Emery is so sarcastic in a way, pointing out that teenagers start their own problems. i love it and completely agree. Emery rocks, but God rules. |

| Switchfoot – Stars Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
when he says "When I look at the stars, the stars I feel like myself" i think he means that when he starts feeling all proud like he amounts to something, he sees God's creation, such as stars, and it puts him in his place. he realizes how small and insignificant he is compared to the rest of the universe. i get this feeling a lot. Switchfoot rocks, but God rules. |

this song is awesome cause it is funny and talks about back to the future, but it also has some great lines about Christianity. i have felt like this a lot, but have never been able to express it. im so glad that relient k has that talent, they are such great writers. i really like the part about the conscience "I don't know what went through my head Was my conscience shot Was it left for dead" not only is that hilarious, its so true. i wish i could take back the things that i did in the past, and a lot of Christians feel that way. Relient K rocks, but God rules. |

singinsilence nailed it on the head especially that last line "It is not our job to make anyone believe." sin is bondage, and as humans we cant free others from it. only God can. we cant point out other's sin all we want, but what is going to make the difference is prayer for that person that the Holy Spirit will reveal the sin to that person. we shouldn't lay on a guilt trip, just love the person, and pray that the Holy Spirit will open their eyes. This album is so inyourface with the truth. i love it. Emery rocks, but God rules. |

| But God rules! | |
| Showbread – Matthias Replaces Judas Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
" the bleached bones of animals bound by leather strips, dance through the air with laughter as i wield this wicked whip" i took me a while to figure out what these lines were talking about. Finally i realized that this is decribing the cat of nine tails. In biblical times, the cat of nine tails was a whip with several leather strips were bound together. At the end of each strip was a piece of glass, metal or bone; this way, i didn't just hurt, it scratched and pulled the skin off your back, leaving oragns exposed. It was one of the worst forms of torture imaginable. They used it on Jesus, before he was crucified. This song blows me away because it shows the anguish that we feel, or should feel, as Christians. Knowing that our sins killed the perfect Savior, we should be in the agony protrayed in this song. But it's awsome that God loves us anyway, and through Him we can be forgiven, and we don't have to go to hell. Showbread rocks. |
