Callisto – The Fugitive Lyrics 7 years ago
I might be way off, however the lyrics always make me think of Jacob (Israel), because he fled from his home in fear of the repercussions of his deception. He made his dad Isaac think he was his older brother, Esau. This was possible due to the fact that his dad was essentially blind and he received the birthright that is only reserved for the firstborn. After committing this act, he flees like a fugitive to evade justice and the wrath of Esau, however God was with Jacob from the very beginning, overlooking the flaws he had, knowing full well the man he would become. Faithful and exceedingly in love with the Lord God. Jacob was so blessed that he was given the name of the nation God would assemble. Made of the twelve tribes that are named after his twelve sons and each tribe consisting of the descendants of each son.

You are right on the meaning. Abortion makes no sense and as I was reading the lyrics this was the only conclusion that fit perfectly. Abortions aren't a simple flu shot. And you can't tell a baby in the womb there won't be a next time. There are many more examples but I'm not wasting time on that.

Poison the Well – You Will Not Be Welcomed Lyrics 10 years ago
I personally think this song is about cocaine addiction. Sustenance may refer to his dependence, which is why is he says pull you into me and devouring said thing. When he talks about being depressed and broken he is referring to leaving the drug behind. But in a social event he devours more because his body desires more and cocaine is often served on plates. And to say that tastes like dreams is referring to the euphoria experienced.

The Chariot – Then Came to Kill Lyrics 15 years ago
Well, when you are familiar with the Bible you will see CLEAR references in the lyrics that come directly from scripture. And Josh Scogin is a Christian. This means that he holds Jesus Christ above all and his life is dedicated to following the Word of God. So because this is the foundation of his life and faith, he writes or refers to it most the time in his music because we are called to spread the good news, and what better message could be sung? So this is why pretty much everything from The Chariot is connected to the Bible. As it seems you may not be in the faith yourself, I understand why people don't get the dedication. But once you are truly born again, you become a completely new person, and all your values are shifted away from yourself and you attempt to follow in Christ's footsteps. God bless

The Chariot – Abandon. Lyrics 15 years ago
BlurPoet, I wasn't sure what to make of the lyrics when I read over them. I wasn't sure if it was, in a sense, a sarcastic view of the lukewarm American church. But my previous view was mainly based on the lines, "A choir of men sing sanctuary in faith. Let's make believe that they are going to live." As it sounds like these people believe themselves Christians, but in reality God is far from them. But after reading your thoughts I definitely believe you are pretty spot on with everything. Great insight man, God bless.

Alexisonfire – Young Cardinals Lyrics 15 years ago
Oh man is this album a shot to the heart. I'm not being negative for the sake of being negative, but George's scream is terrible. And I am also sorry to say, this album is most certainly NOT their best work as it is the most produced and fake material they have released. I am a huge fan of their first two albums and Crisis was alright, but nothing beats their first album. Polaroids of Polar bears was a perfect example of them at their prime. And yes bands do change their sound, for instance Thrice and Brand New, but see they actually construct a NEW sound that fits their growing maturity as musicians and people, I believe this album was a complete regression of creativity and style. Just my opinion, God Bless.

Norma Jean – Scientifiction: II. A Swarm of Dedication Lyrics 20 years ago
I somewhat agree with some of the things UsSpecialOps7 said however, i believe this also is him talking about our society. With the title of Scientifiction and the line "I'm haunted by the strains of human limitation" Seems he is emphasizing our societies blind faith in science alone. I think he uses strain to refer to DNA, which is a big part of scientific remedies for our problems these days dealing with many mortal illnesses and diseases. Then further down he says "Humiliation and insignificance" as we won't ever meet the expectations we are trying to reach. We are simply not enough to solve these problems and science is not the answer to everything. He goes into this idea further with "Oh, the curious teeth of a bear; those fangs, a continual lash and spur onto dedication" as we continue to live blinded by our curiousity, but we won't stop because we are so dedicated to be in control. However he will not be mislead by their efforts to disprove the spiritual and replace it with science. He knows God is in control
