| Bright Eyes – Soul Singer in a Session Band Lyrics

I could be wrong, but surely the reference about the power of myth is about Roland Barthes and his seminal work "Mythologies". True I don't know about Joseph Campbell, but Barthes is (debateabley) a post-modern author, who famously declared the death of the author (which accounts for the line "the post-modern author who doesn't exist"). The whole song is about post-modernity for me, the very idea of a soul singer in a session band is quite a good analogy for the post-modern. |

I love this song, but it does seem to be about him leaving someone who he doesn't love as much as she does him. Maybe that's just me? |
