Godley & Creme – Cry Lyrics 14 years ago
a classic 80's tune. used to great effect at the end of a season 2 episode of "Miami Vice". an episode that guest starred Ted Nugent, of all people.

Gary Moore – Back On The Streets Lyrics 15 years ago
the live cut of this song from "We Want Moore" kicks my ass every. single. time. i listen to it.

as for the meaning, it's fairly obvious this tune is about a relationship where the woman is only interested in keeping a man around at her convenience and is willing to toss him aside at a moment's notice without rhyme or reason

Gary Moore – Parisienne Walkways Lyrics 15 years ago
absolutely the definitive version... and that held note by Gary... that note goes on forever!

Racer X – Heat Of A Lion Lyrics 16 years ago
written by Rob Halford and Glenn Tipton... they never put it on a Priest album, and it ended up in Racer X's hands courtesy of Jeff Martin. they really kill it with this song... especially live. the definitive version is on Live Extreme, Vol. 2... complete with a sick opening Zeppelin tease

Triumph – Fight the Good Fight Lyrics 16 years ago
this song changed my life. well, not really, but it's one of the best songs i've ever heard.

Thin Lizzy – Got To Give It Up Lyrics 16 years ago
this is a great, though sadly prophetic, song. Gary Moore and Scott Gorham really nailed the guitar work on this entire album.... this song is certainly testimony to that.

My Morning Jacket – Mahgeetah Lyrics 16 years ago
seems like a loving tribute to Jim James' guitar. i'm willing to bet it's the flying v.

Gary Moore – Shape of Things (The Yardbirds cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
the version of this song captured on the live album "We Want Moore!" kicks so much freaking ass. i only recently discovered Gary Moore, and while i can appreciate all facets of his varied career, the post-Lizzy shred phase leading up to "We Want Moore!" is easily the best.

Nu Shooz – I Can't Wait Lyrics 16 years ago
i'm going to guess that this is because no one knows the artist but everyone knows the song

Wang Chung – Dance Hall Days Lyrics 17 years ago
this is just a great bit of 80s pop nostalgia. a great little song... can't explain why i like it so much, but that synth melody and the chorus almost take me away to the dance hall days... which i am way too young to have any personal knowledge of.

Wishbone Ash – Sometime World Lyrics 17 years ago
though this song preceded it by a decade, this song always reminds me of Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series of novels. regardless, a great song... a hidden gem, if you will.

Judas Priest – The Green Manalishi (With the Two-Pronged Crown) Lyrics 17 years ago
as was previously said, the song was originally done by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Green based the song off a dream he had in which he was spoke with a green dog that supposedly represented money. so the Green Manalishi is money... and the two-pronged crown is supposed to represent the devil.

the mac version is pretty cool, but the Priest version blows it away. the guitar riff is so dirty and nasty. i just recently got into Priest and i absolutely love this song.

Robin Trower – Day of the Eagle Lyrics 18 years ago
to me, there are two possible meanings:

1) a typical break up song where there's been a lot of fighting and he's down on the hope that there's really love in the world; or

2) it's an anti-society song that reprimands society for promoting hate instead of love

either way the eagle represents the bad and vicious and the dove represents the good and loving.

Eagles – Those Shoes Lyrics 18 years ago
this is one dirty song. it's just got a nasty feel to it. and i mean that in a good way. i wouldn't be surprised to walk into any strip club in America and find some young thing dancing to this...

Robin Trower – Little Bit of Sympathy Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is so very cool and one hell of a great way to end an album. bridge of sighs is a classic.

Blind Faith – Sea of Joy Lyrics 18 years ago
the lyrics and the mood tell me this song is about death. very cool song.

Derek and the Dominos – Little Wing Lyrics 18 years ago
this is an amazing cover version of Jimi's song. i suppose he wrote this about a woman or imaginary friend that helps him when he's feeling low. maybe drugs? but isn't every song about drugs? i guess i should check the lyrics for Jimi's version.

Derek and the Dominos – Tell The Truth Lyrics 18 years ago
quite honestly, this song rules.

Motörhead – America Lyrics 18 years ago
definitely about Motorhead's impression of the States through life on the road. Lemmy really belts this one out. awesome song.

KISS – Great Expectations Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is so over the top it's ridiculous. pure Kiss. definitely Gene crooning to a woman in the crowd. he doesn't mince words.

Van Halen – Somebody Get Me A Doctor Lyrics 18 years ago
i have no idea, but i figure it's Dave being Dave complimenting a lady on her skill between the sheets.

UFO – Mother Mary Lyrics 19 years ago
this song rocks so hard. the version on Strangers could make even the dead rise and rip a wicked air guitar solo. but i have absolutely no idea what it means. i thought it was some kind of statement on religion. a lot of UFO's lyrics really escape me.

UFO – Doctor Doctor Lyrics 19 years ago
i first discovered UFO through a copy of "lights out" i found on some "100 Greatest Guitar Solos" torrent... i moved on to "Rock Bottom" and "Only You Can Rock Me" and i was hooked.

this tune, "doctor doctor" is so driving and forceful it's addicting. i love the opening tempo changes in schenker's guitar work. what a thrasher!! it amazes me that stuff like this gets lost in the pile with so much crap music out there! UFO rocks!!

Eagles – In The City Lyrics 20 years ago
this song was indeed written by joe walsh and it was originally a joe walsh solo song written and performed for a movie released in the late 1970's called "The Warriors". the movie is about gang life in New York City in the 70's and focuses mainly on a gang from Coney Island. the "neon lights" refer to the bright lights from all the carnival games and rides, most notably the Wonder Wheel ferris wheel and the Cyclone roller coaster that are Coney Island landmarks. i suggest you watch the movie to really understand what the song's talking about... once you see it you can clearly understand what joe's talking about. plus, it's a bad ass movie... one of my favorites.
