Mostly agreing with ddadutta. I think this is "simply" a sci-fi-story about humans being breeded or cloned as a spare parts inventory or something ("a virtual drogstore"), and the other humans being so used to it that it even doesn't seem bad anymore ("when we can no longer cry and reality is torn then it´s easy to forget that the responsibillity lies on us all") |

First: Great song. To me the singer is in a situation , where he is being abused or something, at least he is not happy with the situation (IF are often quite general). Still, he holds still, "Tamed with confidence of a brighter future ", he tells himself and maybe is told that he has to bear the situation now, then everything will become good (" I'm selling heavenly sketches A world out of my mind "). But then, one day, he realices (hope i spelled it correctly...) that he has to do something, that the hope he has is based only on lies he was being told/told himself ("Emotions tied to past lies And I know I should let go "). Another dawn collapses Do I need to be reminded? A glimpse of my safe home A path to hide all anger I cant help, but i just see the singer sitting on a hill or something, staring at the sun in the early morning, knowing that he has to do somthing, seeing "A glimpse of my safe home ". But as soon as the sun is up, he falls back into his every-day routine, although he knows he just like"missed a chance" ("Another dawn collapses Do I need to be reminded? "). I dont know whether there is this saying in english, but in german u can say that someone is only a shadow of himself, meaning that he is not quite himself anymore, less active, happy, healthy, in general changed in a negative way. this would fit with "Shadow, my sweet shadow ". he was only a shadow of himself all the time, but he still feels in a way attracted to this status, since it is easier to hold still and "Tame [yourself] with confidence of a brighter future " than to stand up against the grains, against the odds ;) and change something. By the way, noticed the similarity between "Emotions tied to past lies " and "Dark past lies cold "? I dont know what to do with this , but still, very nice^^. |
