one fucking comment? This could be one of the best turn-on songs ever. Jarvis is basically fucking your ears. Lyrically amazing, musically wonderful and god the sexual frustration! It's the orgasmic/ frustated back-ups, repetition and "where are you?" "im here" that really make this song work. One of my favourite pulp songs. Jarvis = genius. |

| Belle & Sebastian – Lazy Line Painter Jane Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
'You know a girl who's tax free on her back and making plenty cash While you are working for the joy of giving", ah classic b&s lyrics. So, our Lazy Jane is rebelling against the world by dressing differently , running away from home and acting skanky...nice song. Just one thing, I'm aussie and don't get the most importent slang lol. What's "Painting lines" (is that like "doing lines"??? is she on drugs?) and what's "licking railings" (im guessing she wasn't actually licking railings lol....something sexual?) |

| Franz Ferdinand – I'm Your Villain Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Nice song. I think he's talking about a chick that's depressed or bored and thinks he's the only one who could make her life intresting. He knows this, but doesnt particularly care as she's too serious and miserable for him. | |

Actual lyrics are: You toss in a word I'm your villain I see the passion emerge I'm your villain But serious You're so serious Like a waiter Hating the rich But taking their tips If I could laugh I'd love you If I could smile at anything you said We could be laughing lovers I think you'd prefer to be miserable instead If I could love I'd love you If I could love like anybody else I know what I am I'm your villain I don't give a damn if I'm your villain Because serious You're so serious But I've got ready salted ready on your belly If you want to have fun See you later |

| Franz Ferdinand – The Dark of the Matinee Lyrics | 20 years ago |

My take on this song that it's about daydreaming, gettin away from the highschool thing... Like, after an awkward situation with the object of his affections, (She’s undressing him and the best he can do is stare at her shoes lol) He starts daydreaming about the “matinee” aka a place where he’s in complete control of the situation, without the restrictions/pressure of school/popularity. Alex was probably a loser in high school, so reckoned things would be better if he was in a place he was comfortable in. (“It’s better in the matinee, its mine”) The 2nd verse isn’t about him seducing her, if you think about the lyrics; it’s more the opposite. “Charm you” is meant sarcastically, he’s not charming her at all, he might be trying to, but he’s actually babbling and bitching on about the things he hates. She, however, is happy and smiling, so probably ends up charming him. One again, it’s back to the matinee, where he’d be free of all the things he hates. The BBC2 part is about him reflecting, he’s out of high school, and has finally gotten the swing of things, “My words and smile are so easy now, it’s easy now” |

My take is that this song is about daydreaming about being in your own space, away from the awkwardness of highschool...
