| Cansei de Ser Sexy – Give Up Lyrics
|
No comments? Shamee.
Just waking up
It's hard to say
I just feel I'm not the same
Blending all the coffee
Laughing at a party
Acting like it's normal
Feeling all the boredom
Anyway. When I feel burned out or like I don't exist, this part always gives me goosebumps. |

I think her voice sounds amazing when she gets into the higher register, especially during the "hey this fire, this fire is burning us up" part. |

For me this is about having spent a lot of time in a sort of daze, maybe locked in some sort of routine, and having something happen and suddenly looking around and realizing that the world is in technicolor and that you have this happiness that you have to seize. |

Random (pun alert) light to shed on the line "dirtiest clean." I think that means she wants to make a clean break, but it's messier than she expected. Thus, dirtiest clean. |

LOVE the keyboards and the chorus. As for the meaning, I get the feeling it's something (probably a relationship) that went wrong, but neither he ("but I fall mute") nor the person ("you fucking lied") seem capable of fixing it. |

I didn't even realize what stung me
Everything's spinning like a carousel
Insainty's running all over my skin |

| Feist – Mushaboom Lyrics

This is a very sweet and pretty song, and I love her vocals. Best mix in my opinion is the Postal Service.
To me the meaning's pretty clear. "helping the kids out of their coats/but wait the babies haven't been born" means that she's daydreaming of being with her future children, but wait! She's getting ahead of herself in the daydream. "Unpacking the bags and setting up/and planting lilacs and buttercups" as well as "make a home from a rented house" point to creating a picturesque, quiet little home. It's a very cute concept :D |

Exactly. I just have to say, the way she sings it really conveys the anger. It's very satisfying. Pleasantly surprised, I didn't suspect that she'd come out with something like this, but i like. |

At first I thought it was stupid--my first impression of it was hearing "umbrella...ella...ey, ey, ey" on the radio, and it sounded. completely. stupid. I actually laughed. But hearing it a few times I have to admit it's frickin' catchy. Grows on you like a fungus. |

I agree with the person who said that thing about Elton John and Freddie Mercury. They were both gods and they both swing that way, and he sounds like a fusion of them in the wrong era! Genius!
Anyway. IDK about you but what does a war story have to do with a song about a weird ex? I think the talking at the end is for giggles in some way and that he's the one who says it, though I have no clue wtf it's about :) |

I like the part where she's like "get it get it don't stop" 'cause it's a kind of a shout out to a similar part in the rap of "Feel Good Inc" by the Gorillaz.
It's very catchy and what I like about is that it's not an outright sex offering but a metaphor. It would be cheap if the song was more obvious in its meaning...like outright saying, I'm hot, fuck me fuck me, but it's a metaphor. Like that Led Zeppelin song. It's hot.
And she's hot enough to pull it off :) |

| Andrew Bird – A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
I have only the vaguest feel of what this song could be about--it could be so many things.
Barely alive we cover the blisters in flannel
Though the words we speak are banal
Not one of them's a lie
A theory about those lines is that they're talking about a the funeral of someone who died in a fire, but they're so badly burned they've had to be covered in flannel (Barely alive we cover the blisters in flannel) and that though the words they're saying about the person are cliche or common or traditional, they convey a real meaning.
As for the "Barely alive" at the beginning, maybe it's because they feel barely alive and numb at this funeral. |

| Bob Marley and the Wailers – Three Little Birds Lyrics

|
This is pretty irrelevant to the song, but yesterday my family and I found a baby mockingbird which we tried and failed not to get attached to (we named it Storky for its long legs) and anyway, today it died, we're guessing from internal injuries. And everyone's crying, but this song made me feel better, since it's so feel-good and references little birds.
K, sorry for that tangent. |

| The Postal Service – Sleeping In Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
This song is about the narrator dreaming of a perfect world where everything made sense--"everything was exactly how it seemed" meaning that there were no illusions or disguises, it was all straightfoward and unveiled and nothing to trick you. The example with JFK just emphasizes it--there was no mystery about it, some guy just shot him. What you see is what you get.
Then the bit about the global warming--some people have interesting interpretations, but I think it means that the in the dream utopia, the world was getting warmer as a reward for people being good, and because of the warmth everybody could swim on any day in November, a month normally too cold to go out swimming.
And he wants to sleep in and keep dreaming of this world.
:) I love this song, man. |

Well, the thing about the flower sounds like pressing flowers. You take a flower and press it between the pages of a heavy book, and after a couple of days you get a flattened imprint. Maybe it's symbolic. |

This probably isn't how they meant it, but when I first heard it seems to me like a struggle with partying too much and alcohol and all that good stuff (going on the town, missions, etc) and then "waking up" and realizing you've wasted your life, and the ensuing struggle to become normal--ie, crawling towards the sun. It's just the feel I get, but I think everyone else makes a good point. |

| The Postal Service – We Will Become Silhouettes Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
Some of you say it's a bomb shelter used as a metaphor for a relationship. I don't think it's a metaphor, it's just the end of the world via nuclear holocaust. Just think about the title- we will become silhouettes. It's more about death itself.
Although the mention of wishing the echoes were somebody else's and the pictures indicate that maybe he lost somebody in the process of the nuclear holocaust, I don't think that's the main point. |

I shocked myself when I found this song incredibly catchy. I am not a heavy metal sort of person. I don't normally dig the growly singing, but this song...I dunno, it's amazing. And looking at the lyrics killed some of my prejudices that metal is just mindless shrieking--these lyrics are actually very poetic, for a song about a sex addiction. Damnn. Amazinggg. I especially like where he starts singing "six feet deep is the incision", which is a clever line in and of itself. |
