akercocke rule, i saw them a few weeks ago and they were tight and powerful as hell, the crying sound is probably the very human sounding yell he often does, which is pretty effective at conveying emotion. Jasons voice is awesome and have a pretty effective range, from warthog to yelling to softly singing They are probably one of my favorite bands of all time, and they have a pretty distinctive original sound. That said, I rarely have any idea what the lyrics are on about, this one seems to involve some kind of woodland satanic ritual |

Views on lyrics aside......this an an extremely potent death metal song!!! It contains some of the best heavy riffs ever with all the pinch harmonics and time changes and just sounds not particularly original or ground-braking but very fucking heavy and powerful/aggressive. If your into metal, you should be able to appreciate this. Now about the lyrics......they arn't poetic, they arn't clever or subtle.....but thats not what their meant to be!!!! They go with the attitude of the riffs perfectly, and thats a very gory violent theme. The song is about releasing all your violent, dark human primal urges and suddenly absolutely nailing an antagonist. You may want to argue that they are too gratuitous, but its an extreme genre, an extreme song, which requires extreme lyrics. The songs appeals to mans natural (but suppressed) attraction to gore/violence, which is why people find this kind of song appealing. Its a hell of a better release of stress than actually doing it!!! and on the subject of songs like this making people actually go out and kill.........all arguments like that were made completely void when it was discovered charles mansons main inspiration was the Beatles. If someones gonna do some attrocity like this they will anyway, and if they listen to the music its because they relate to it even more than the average Canibal Corpse fan. what wont happen is a normal person gets inspired to kill from listening to this kind of music, instead they will see it as a form of stress release. Anyone disagree?? |
