To me, this song is about a guy with so much complexity and depth; however, he feels now without love in his life, he has no one to express himself to. Rather than mope and be down though, he will "sing his song" to the world instead of just an individual person.

God this is such a great song but just completely devastates me. I've gone through exactly what is said in the song, waking up feeling like I can hardly breathe thinking she should be laying next to me. But you can't bring yourself to get out of the bed after that. I've had panic attacks before as well stemming from such things and this song just completely brings all this to mind. Why do we like what makes us suffer? |

Yup, definitely what the song is about. Covered from an openly Christian songwriter by a band fronted by a devout Christian. The song by Pedro the Lion is part of a concept album, this is from a character in the story's view. However, like most songs there is a meaning behind it though it its from a concept album. My take on it is that when the character is crying out to Jesus, Jesus is smiling and looking away because it is all part of a greater, bigger plan that He has for all of us, accept it or not. He doesn't "help" the character because to give the character what they want wouldn't help him because the character doesn't know what's good for him/her. Basically, Jesus is smiling almost in a joking way as if to say "He/she'll thank me in the long run." |

Easy. I've encountered this many a times.....its basically about all the big jocks or "meatheads" that hang out at concerts solely to command the pit and prove how tough they are...they don't feel or connect to the music at all, its simply a soundtrack for them to work out to....unlike the kids they try pushing around who actually connect with the music |
