This is one of the all time most listened to tracks in my iPod. I'm a pretty big fan of Juliana and have been for many years now. I think the main attraction in any of her work is A) Simplicity, and B) Emotional Honesty. And for me this track is the perfect example of both of those elements.
Although this might not be a well known track or one that she will be remembered for, the combination of pop sensibility, simple melody and the honesty of the lyric and story for me add up to an absolutely classic song.
I could listen to it a hundred times over and never get bored. |

Joefox is wrong!
It's simply about using an insecure girl for sex (oral or otherwise). She is a girl that this type of thing happens to alot, and she may have resigned herself to turning this type of trick regularly just to get attention (often there's drugs involved). It sounds as if she is so wasted that he does with her whatever he wants (she is past caring, removed from the situation, 'at the bottom of the ocean').
He recognises that she is regularly used by others (and thinks this is wrong) but he can't help but do exactly the same thing to her. There is an element of guilt on his part, but he goes ahead anyway. He enjoys it, and will probably do it again. |
