This song is a cover of the Ziggy-inspiring "Legendary Stardust Cowboy (the Ledge)". Bowie covered it after reading on the Ledge's homepage that he was rather insulted by Bowie stealing a part of his name and making it so succesfull. He was never paid any royalties (for inspiration!??!) and he hated that. "At least he could cover one of my songs," he wrote on his webside. So Bowie did, the strange thing is just that it isn't mentioned on the CDcover (Heathen) that the song's not written by Bowie himself. But maybe he believes that by giving the song another name ("i took a trip in a gemini spaceship" - which it is called in Bowie version, although he sings 'spacecraft') he has rewritten it. Who knows? |

I'm having a hard time saying anything negative 'bout Bowie, but this song definately isn't one of my favorites. The first time I heard it, was while watching the video, and that is just terrible. Bowie really looks like an inzane drugaddict, and I can't really see the point in this song either. It's a shame such a bad song is at such a terrific album. |

This song was the main reason I detected Bowie in the first place. I first watched the movie as 6yearold, and it's been my favorite ever since. The song is so damned beautyful, that it doesn't matter how non-Bowieish it is, his voice with that lyric and melodi just makes life worth living.

Beautyful lovesong, but there's not really much in it, is there? It's song by a sweet-looking Bowie in a sweet and boring as hell period.
BUT; am I the only one who can the drug references in it? If you put drugs in stead of the love-theme, at least it has a less abused theme. |
