forgot to add this but also i think a lot of it has to do with the fact that as a 'rock star,god,wtf ever' he can do about anything,hence the first set of lyrics, but most of the options are very physical or carnal (sin more or less) and this pulls a person from anything greater then those actions and if this song pertains to a person hes with it may be a big part of that,so many options but willing to sacrifice them to be with said person. |

so yeah,not only does this album rock but i think this song is about his relationship between his loved ones (devo and Breña mainly) as the perfect circle song Breña is about her,and other songs reflect different aspects of his relationships with them,or maybe with some other personal relationship as it doesn't really have the feel of something to do with his mom nor do i really think he found "jesus".the whole band has DEFIANTLY spent more time on the light side of the line as can be seen in the sharp contrast between the 2 albums before this one and 10000 days really feels like it closes the gap between them,and a lot of the best elements of lateralus and anima are well blended in this album.sorry if this is recycled or what ever but i didn't see much to this affect,but yeah compare the song Breña to this one. |

I'm understand why/how someone couldn't see the connection of meditation and music as almost everything is vibration anyway and it helps a ton but what ever.as far as tracks being 'filler' songs that logic just shows that you have little to no music or artistic talent.i do a ton of art and anything i do has at least a few bits i did for fun or that people don't get because they cant get anything out of music with out a 4/4 beat or art that's not explained and in full structure.open you mind a little more then you open your mouth. tool is a fairly deep band so if you don't understand something then think about what that in itself means before expecting them to dumb down for you. |

it sounds like hes talking about self destruction not only pain wise but on a mental/emotional level.a lot of people cause themselves to fail subconsciously and this keeps them lower then they intend to be but in a placid and comfortable state. pins are used to keep insects on display as well which may be talking about how most people who hurt them selves broadcast the hell out of it,also could be a reference to pain being a reminded of being alive or feeling anything at all.the pin may also be a reference to heroin (or any drug) use |
