Scarling – H/C Lyrics 19 years ago
Amazinly enough, you surely can't find it hard to believe that yet another Scarling song could be about addiction, love, hurt/sadness, and an ever-changing mixmatch of the three. From what I gather, "H" is herion, "C" is cocaine, and it's about someone who recovered from their cocaine addiction by turning to heroin instead ("He's so H but over C")...& my guess is that the person in question would be Twiggy Ramirez, as it is in manymany other great songs of hers. He played a huge, important role in her life and has inspired a lot of her music, especially that of Scarling :)

Scarling – Alexander the Burn Victim Lyrics 19 years ago
In agreement with xx_acid_starz, it is most likely about someone she loves struggling with the grips of addiction..And this would especially come as no surprise since, just like in Black Horse Riding Star, she is referring to (the bassist of Marilyn Manson), Twiggy Ramirez, who she was in a serious relationship with for a long time. Twiggy was a SERIOUSLY big time drug addict in every way, shape & form, and a number of her songs are inspired by him and his many addictions. ("Star No Star", for example) I'm sure this is just another one of the great many. :)

Being a heroin addict myself & largely a part of that world, I can say that i am 100% sure this is in fact about heroin. To be more specific, this was actually written about Twiggy Ramirez (Bassist of Marilyn Manson) & his heroin addiction, as he and Jessika dated seriously for years and his drug use hurt her very much. He also brought her into all of that, of course. This is not her first song about him, either. "Star No Star" is another amazing Twiggy-inspired song of hers :)

I really believe the only reason Jessika said otherwise is to be "politically correct", and possibly because she might've felt that anyone who couldn't read between the lines so obvious, it was probably better off that way anyway.

..Not to be pushy, but for someone to say it's not about heroin (not saying they were) would be completely naive and oblivious, It mentions it's actual name right IN the song itself- "black tar"..Not to mention "Ocean in my arm", etc. And all the hidden hints such as heroin is BLACK, "Horse" is the original slang for the drug, and well, Twiggy was a star, who she cared for deeply and was crushed by his heroin addiction. (hence the multiple mentioning of broken heart & other sad things)...That should pretty much definitively answer all questions...All makes sense, huh? :) Hope that helps.

Nirvana – Dumb Lyrics 20 years ago
I have read most of the opinions posted in regards to this song, and thus far, almost everyone has done a horrible job in figuring out the meaning! God I am almost in shock and disgust! That being said...!

First and foremost, this song IS completely about drugs! By saying that, I don't at all mean to suggest that ALL of his songs are, but this one certainly is and anyone with 2 functioning braincells would realize that. Being a heroin addict myself, I feel I have a more accurate view on what this song means. Heroin IS smokeable, especially the kind that you get on the west coast (and Kutr just so happens to have lived in the west, imagine that!)...When he says "My heart is broke, but I have some glue - help me inhale, and mend it with you" He is referring to smoking heroin and making himself numb inside, as though it is the answer to all of his problems. "We'll float around, and hang out on clouds. Then We'll come down, have a hangover" How could that NOT be a drug reference? The high of heroin is very 'dreamy", you nod in and out od conciousness. It is very much like a waking dream and there is DEFINATELY a bad, bad 'hangover'. For a heroin addict to quit, it is the most physically ailing thing you could ever put your body through, so a hangover at the least! There is a groggy feeling after the high, as well. Kurt wrote this song with heroin in mind. Sorry for those in denial, but I'm sure you'll get over it. The main chorus about being dumb or just happy..He is basically saying that everyone around him thinks he is "dumb" for doing drugs, but he doesn't care. He halfway pretends to care, but he is happy in his drug use and that's that. "soothe the burn, wake me up" also another heroin reference. There is a definate "burn" of sorts, especially upon injecting it. Wake me up, that is basically because being high on junk makes you tired and pass out..I mean the references are so obvious and they are ENDLESS! Anyone who cannot realize that this entire song (especially the part about "glue") is about heroin is obviously as daft as one could possibly imagine! Hope I've shed some light on the subject, being experienced with Junk and all. It's been enlightening ;)
