| Opeth – Coil Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Most of these comments read like those for a backstreet boys song. This is Opeth, they don't sing about cookie cutter Fall Out Boy relationships you guys beat on about. You know its gotta be about a white knight missing his love riding his horse through a field of dead bodies and decaaayYYEeuh. Like the solider interpretation, I think that is very fitting. This is their own Soldier Of Fortune as it were. Myself? I think its about stockholm syndrome. The dude has nearly got his ransom paid, the chick didn't. Dude wants to stay kidnapped cause he loves her, which he can do because he emphasizes with the cause. Which is almost completely Opethy. Imagine its set in like 1640 or something. |

The 12 string version on the Pentatonic Hardcore video is a thousand times more brilliant and a million times more heartbreaking, it truely sounds like the blues. It should've been stuck on the cd. Go youtube it and you will see what i mean. |

| Fear Factory – A Therapy For Pain Lyrics | 18 years ago |

A lady being a metaphor for death. When you think of Death as a character, its the grim reaper with the hood and scythe. We can see death as the calm and beautifully simple way to end pain under the light of this song. I get the essence that he is romanticized to ending his pain by being taken away by "Lady death" : My main belief is that the narrator is contemplating suicide, and is finding comfort in death by the traits she is showing as opposed to that fucking frightning grim reaper. The metaphor that death is a lady attributes a maternal meaning also. A feeling that your gonna be looked after no matter what, maybe. I think of Lady death here as a character that visits us when were thinking, or unconscious. At the end, Lady death has either 1: bought the narrator to his senses by showing that finding comfort in death is the same as finding it in life, except that you get to live. Making the narrator think it over, death has taken him on a trip through memories to help talk him out of it... or 2: left the narrator as he is having his pain relieved ie by way of surgery perhaps. He is thinking about the life he has lived, and how he has to overcome the pain to live another day. (I saw he cause Burton C Bell does have quite the dude voice.) By letting go of his hand, perhaps he hasnt sustained enough injury to be dead, or the mental capacity hes exhibited in handling pain has helped him pull through. Love this song though. I think of it as the coming round from thoughts of suicide. I feel the song is very uplifting. |

I imagine its about tribal war, this song being about the perspective about a tribe smaller than the one thats about to wipe them out, like, inevtiably. and its a call to arms even though your going to get fucked over. it feels kinda short...maybe its cause when your ambushed, you go down fightin...but not for very long x| |

beautiful. easily the best song by metallica. neck breaking heavy parts, and the harmonies in the middle. jesus. i actaully heard this song first on the dc video, were the song is chopped up , the first part at the beginning of the video, the last part stuck on the end. i didnt believe they were the same song at first , ha. yeah, nerdy boy just about to take finals, boots up the video for the first time. seductive 3 note intro, and into the first riff. you expect it to be heavy, cos i know i wanted it to be. and it is. fucking delievers with the fall away tones. fucking kills. excitement follows. speeding up and slowing down again. you cant help but nod the beat out the middle part is so gorgeouis though. dare i say romantic. it was also captivating to see danny way bust 40 ft airs to it as well, really opened my eyes ...and ears. i only found out later during the credits that the song was by metallica , and on the album master of puppets, the title song which i first heard at a gig when i was 15. a song that received a more welcome reception than the support band did. good times. since it was the only song i had on a mix cd made for me, i knew i had to check out the rest of the album, for 2 fucking incredible songs, there had to be more. i dont think metallica will ever match the beauty and power of this song. which saddens me... but if you havent heard this song before, youre missing out. |
