This is about isolationism, or the act of being isolated. The references of a "school holiday she could do without" and the "unfamiliar brand" all point to unconmon things. People feel happy during school holidays, and it's rather uncommon to see unfamiliar brands on empty shelves. The person in the song is most probably a computer addict, huddled in her room, isolated from the world around her. I used this song in a class presentation on "Isolationism." Erm, that is all. CHOW! This is a song about the S&M scene. Flicking your switch refers to something that some dommes to their subs, where they take their money and generally use and abuse them or, in mild cases, just strive to piss them off/ embaress them. This song reminds me of the classic book "Momo", about how scary men steal the time of the world in the "Time Savings Bank." First off, and LCD is a sort of projection screen, and this song is about a very elaborate projection. It is kept up by a man persuing a woman. He times everything, and he never takes off his watch (even as he sleeps. Daylight savings time often is like a Time Savings Bank, you allocate time and end up with more or less. The man in the song is perhaps an hour early, trying to quickly court a girl. He times himself, everything is overplanned. He is a sinister character, and the alpine retreat is merely a facade where he keeps his new girlfriend. There, he controls on the seasons and all else, successfully controlling the world. Now it is winter, and the girl thinks she has it all: perfect guy, vacationing at an Alpine retreat.
