I think the meaning of the song has pretty much been analyzed all it can be, but just to chime in a little bit, let me just say that this is my favorite Pink Floyd song of all time. You hear a lot of Pink Floyd songs on The Wall or especially The Final Cut that are absolutely INCREDIBLE in their ability to portray war, pain, grief and isolation. And don't get me wrong, I LOVE THAT! That's an incredible skill to have as a musician. But despite all that, and perhaps BECAUSE of all that, this song is special because of the positive message behind it, and will always be my favorite Pink Floyd song! |

Props to Mirage on finding the quote. This song IS about child sexual abuse. It is my favorite song on "Don't Tread On Me," because of the heart and soul behind it. SA proved himself to be a champ musician and lyricist on this album and that shines through on this song. Unbelievably incredible song with yet another great message behind it. In the end, it's just 1 of countless 311 songs that leave me feeling refreshed. These lyrics are a gem. It's just something that popular music won't ever be able to live up to. And lastly, I must say that I'm not the type to force my musical opinions on anyone, but i will say this: anyone who does not hear this song is robbing themselves. |

"From reckless to recluse
And sometimes back again
Left wondering what's the use
Of a life of mischief spent"
Arguably some of 311's greatest lyrics ever written. It's good to hear from a band of mature individuals who have grown out of the fast life. There's a lot of musicians out there who will live the fast life until they can't keep up with it anymore. So props to 311 on being intelligent enough of people to find something else in life. As for "Time is Precious," I love the music, love the harmony, LOVE the lyrics and hope to see it on an album someday. |

Well, I'm 18 years old and have been a 311 fan since I was 7 years old and my brothers were listening to it. I don't do drugs, never have, probably never will, but I can tell you right now, I know EXACTLY what any 311 fan talks about when they mention cosmic experiences listening to 311 songs. THIS MUSIC JUST DOES THAT! Especially this song! Almost sounds like it belongs on Transistor, but it doesn't matter to me what album it's on, I'm just glad it exists! I LOVE THIS SONG! i daresay it's their most underrated song. It will re-confirm to any true 311 fan just how special 311 is and just how unbelievable their music is in a world full of shallow, meaningless music. |

Everytime I hear this song, it reminds me that it's one of my favorite 311 songs. Haha. But it's an easy one to lose in such a huge array of incredible songs by 311. To me, the lyrics are some of the most beautiful, eloquent lyrics that have ever been written. "Not a tight rope walk, but dance. Uncertain game of chance. But I'll see it through, in time." UNBELIEVABLE SONG and unbelievable end to an unbelievable album about coming "from chaos" into a higher state of "clarity." Love it! Love 311! Love all my 311 fans! "Be positive and love your lives." |

To anyone who comes into a 311 fan-based forum and rips their band:
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! To come into a forum of 311 fans that love their band, love the music, love the depth and perhaps most importantly, love the positivity that this band gives to the world ... and just RIP ON THEM is beyond me. It's like assaulting a monk. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? You may not believe what we believe, but what exactly are you trying to do? Wake us up and bring us back into shallow shit music that YOU listen to? PLEASE! There's plenty of room in LA for 311, and if they ever run for office, i suggest you fuckin' VOTE FOR THEM. |
