The Smashing Pumpkins – By Starlight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
When I hear this song I think of two people dancing a slow dance at prom and gazing into each other's eyes. Lame, I know but I can not help the vision the song evokes. haha. |
Beck – In A Cold Ass Fashion Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is so groovy. Not sure what it's about but I can just imagine someone living in a dingy apartment having sex and the like. Whatever, the song's awesome, though. |
Nine Inch Nails – Reptile Lyrics | 18 years ago |
At the end, when you can hear all those muffled no's and other words I can't make out, it seems like he's at war with himself. As if he's fighting himself for loving the girl despite the fact she's made him impure. Eh, if not, then I agree with Numpty. :] |
Harry Nilsson – Me and My Arrow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Him and his arrow. :] |
Placebo – Pure Morning Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree with Xo Beyond Repair oX, I always thought this song was just about friends in general and the people you associate yourself with. But the whole pregnancy theories make sense, too. |
David Bowie – Never Let Me Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Soulful. Har har. :] |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Quiet Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow, this song is awesome! I can listen to it over and over again and never get sick of it. Billy's voice is wonderful. Some may disagree but I LOVE it. In regards to the meaning of the song, I think it may be about someone who is scorning someone for doing something horrible ("be ashamed of the mess you've made"), but keeping it to themselves. Hence "quiet". I am probably so wrong, but that's just my take. |
Elf Power – Jane Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree with Dargonlord, but "And we all get captured for a while And we all get lost" makes me think that the whole song in general is about imagination. Everybody gets lost in imagination at some point. |
Islands – Volcanoes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I had just watched White Noise and when I heard the beginning of this song I was all, "OMG! AVP! Nooo!" But I listened anyway. And I love it. Yay for Islands! |
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Let the Cool Goddess Rust Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Or maybe he's not even telling her to her face. Perhaps he's just thinking about the whole situation. -shrug- |
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Let the Cool Goddess Rust Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree with pamelachae and eagle-bear. It says "I found a new face" so I was thinking maybe he's meeting up with an old friend and realized she's changed into this popular and vain "goddess" and he's probably trying to tell her to be real. Don't put on some facade. "What goes up has so far down to fall" Makes me think of a sort of social pyramid, how she's so high up there that if she begins to act like a real person and not this superficial-type person then it's gonna hit her hard when she falls from the social pyramid. I dunno'. Just my take on interpreting it. :) |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Tristessa Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. I frickin love the drums. The way he uses Tristessa, it sounds like it'd be a girl's name. So maybe he's referring to sadness as a girl? |
Dungen – Panda Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I have no clue what this song is about. Partly because the lyrics are in a language very foreign to me. My only guess could be that it's about a panda? But I doubt it's that literal. For all I know panda could mean something in Swedish. I like the song, though. :) |
of Montreal – Oslo in the Summertime Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song sounds somewhat eerie to me, I dunno why. But I still like it, it's a really neat song. I like "look the sky is peppered with sea birds and with crows all cackling". I can just imagine white and black birds flying around. Nice imagery. :) |
of Montreal – The Actor's Opprobrium Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song, it's so frolic-y sounding. :) Can't believe no one has commented it. Very fun song. Judging by the surface of the lyrics it's about an amateur actor that gets a big part in a porno movie and then he starts wondering if that's what he wants to do for the rest of his life--act. |
Architecture in Helsinki – Imaginary Ordinary Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song makes me think of summer. I can just see little kids on a summer night chasing fireflies. But I dunno' what it means. :( |
Psapp – Tiger, My Friend Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song reminds me of the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland. I can imagine people on a boat floating down a jungle river. |
The Cloud Room – Hey Now Now Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is so upbeat. It makes me want to bounce up and down. And I agree with x_hotelpaper about it being about looking towards the future and not passing up any opportunities. |
Rogue Wave – Seasick on Land Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's about someone in a relationship and they want to take a break from it. But I'm sure there's more to it than that.. |
Sondre Lerche – Track You Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I actually think that "tricks they track you down" is sort of like karma (what goes around comes around). So all the bad things she did to him will track her down in a karma-esque way. |
Morcheeba – The Sea Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When I hear this song I imagine a lonely dock overlooking the sea and then this girl in a flowy dress on a cliff overlooking the dock. |
Air – Don't Be Light (feat. Jean Croc & Beck Hansen) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When Beck sings the La, la, la , la, la, la part I get goosebumps. Under-appreciated song, eh? Not sure what it's about... The whistling is Kill Bill and Star Trek reminiscent. |
Air – Surfing on a Rocket Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is very flowy. And I'm not sure what it's about. |
Clinic – The Equaliser Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I thought he was saying "mmmm, suck on your ass". Amazing song. It reminds me of New York. |
Sondre Lerche – Counter Spark Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Aww, the ba-ba-baa ba part is adorable. Lovely song. |
Sondre Lerche – Don't Be Shallow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Kind of self-explanitory, hm? Nice song nonetheless. :) |
Dean Martin – That's Amore Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I wonder what this song is about! (sarcasm.) Classic song. I'm surprised not that many people have commented on it. Hmm. |
Beck – Tropicalia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree, Beck is an adaptable artist and you definetly can't lose with him. Anyway, I interpreted this part of the song: to the studs they're anabolic and bronze they seem to strut in their millennial fogs 'til they fall down and deflate When I heard these lyrics I thought of pompous jocky/ atheletic guys on steroids (hence the anabolic) flaunting theirselves while they're young (millenial fogs?) until they get older and lose their physique ('til they fall down and deflate). I dunno'. |
of Montreal – Chrissy Kiss the Corpse Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree. It's so fun. |
Clinic – Mr. Moonlight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is so serene. |
Aqueduct – Frantic (Roman Polanski version) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
What does Roman Polanski have to do with it? Could this song somehow be related to the murder of Sharon Tate by Charles Manson? I doubt it. But eh, whatever. :] neeaatt song nonetheless. |
Aqueduct – Growing Up With GNR Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about the narrator looking back on an old relationship when he was feeling lonely. And when he realized he was lonely, he really wasn't because he had memories. This song is niiice. :] |
The Unicorns – 52 Favourite Things Lyrics | 18 years ago |
For the past week I've been humming this song in my dreams and waking up singing it. This song is obviously about Nick's 52 favorite things. I like the smell of freshly cut grass also. |
Beck – Nicotine & Gravy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is probably my favorite song on Midnite Vultures. Beck's voice is so alluring. I love these lines: I'll feed you fruit that don't exist I'll leave graffiti Where you've never been kissed Ahhh. Beck = bliss. |
The Unicorns – I Do (It) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
By "do it", it sounds more like they're going to perform. Like performing a concert at a bar mitzvah or a wedding. |
Beck – High 5! (Rock the Catskills) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
TURN THAT SHIT OFF MAN. They should start playing this on the radio stations across America. Then everyone'll be like "wow. like lol--um whose dis?" "beck." "ew. that loser guy? screw dat--i'ma try to get rich...or die tryin'." It'd be a fun reaction. But not as fun as this song. :] |
Nine Inch Nails – Wish Lyrics | 18 years ago |
You know Trent, he hates everyone. |
Nine Inch Nails – Memorabilia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
hahaha. he is. |
Nine Inch Nails – Memorabilia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Is he saying "what do your nipples look like?" in the very beginning and at the end? |
Beck – Readymade Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Is it just me or does anybody else hear the jumping noise from the Super Mario Bros. video games? |
Beck – Hotwax Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like it when Beck adds Spanish in his songs. It's cute listening to him pronounce the words. And he does it so well! :] If I said that line in my Spanish class, people wouldn't laugh because nobody at my school knows who Beck is. which SUCKS. |
Beck – Hollywood Freaks Lyrics | 18 years ago |
True, true. Thank you. I feel informed. :] |
Beck – Loser Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ew. grammar error. I feel dumb. "There's" should be "there're" or "there are". Soy un perdedor. :] |
Beck – Loser Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I want to marry someone like Beck. He's so ingenious. I love him. And I agree with vikingneal. Beck is "maturing" and so is his music. Anyway, (I'm a driver, I'm a winner, things are gonna' change, I can feel it) That part made me laugh. A picture of some little kid with a soap box car pops into my mind. And that little "nyeahh" noise he makes at 3:21 is cute. xD There's so many pieces floating around in this song, and yet it's so complete. But aren't most Beck songs like that anyway? Yeah.. VIVA LA BECK! ew haha :] |
Gang of Four – I Love a Man in a Uniform Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like this song too. I like to sway to it. xD |
Beck – Hollywood Freaks Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song /is/ hilarious. It's choc full of pop-mocking references. But one question--what's an 808? Boy, I feel stupid. :\ |
Nine Inch Nails – That's What I Get Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's funny how he calls himself a boy when he's what, 20-something when he wrote this? I agree with Perky's interpretation. At first I liked this song, then I didn't, then I really listened to it and I like it again. Heh. |
Beck – Emergency Exit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this might be my favorite song on Guero as well. I can just imagine Beck trekking through some scene on Gunsmoke or something under the hot sun. |
Radiohead – Exit Music (For a Film) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love how the drums get louder and Thom Yorke's voice really profjects and get amplified when he sings "You can laugh a spineless laugh We hope your rules and wisdom choke you now we are one in everlasting peace" Radiohead pwns your heart & your face. |
David Bowie – Lady Grinning Soul Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love the piano. I can listen to this song non-stop and never tire of it. It is calming, samuella! :] |
