Pearl Jam – Man of the Hour Lyrics 20 years ago
Regenstone8, just think about what you've said there. You've just said that we shouldn't take into account what the author of a song has said in working out what that song means. That's ridiculous - surely the author has a much better idea of what the words he wrote mean than we could ever have from just looking at the lyrics.

We all bring our own pre-conceptions and assumptions to bear on this sort of thing, but I reckon the author's word should over-ride anything we may bring to the table. At least it should if we're concerned about what the author intended the song to communicate.

Of course, one of the great things about poetry is that the coded wording can often communicate something different, beautiful and helpful that the author didn't intend. But let's not suggest that the author's word is irrelevant to the meaning of a song.

Delirious? – Obession Lyrics 20 years ago
This was my anthem for many years. It just sums it all up for me - how God is seemingly everywhere and nowhere all at one time. He surrounds me, but I often feel so far away.No doubt this is especially true when "I'm so filthy with my sin." But at the end of the day, it comes down to one simple truth: He is with me, and my heart burns for Him.
