The previous post is an example of how dumb Limp Bizkit fans are. Ok, obviously when I said they have no loyal fans it was an exaggeration. To rephrase it so you dumbass Limp Bizkit fans can understand it - "very few of their fans were loyal to them". Happy? And what percentage of their original fanbase actually still gives a shit about them? I'd be suprised if it's more than 1. "the reason you think fans loved limp because they were cool is because that's what u though!" Notice how I had the word "cool" in quotation marks. Yes they were labelled as "cool" when they were popular, but does that mean their music was good quality? The fact is, most popular things are shit. You know why? 'Cause the majority of people in the world are ignorant and stupid. What I was trying to say is that they were shit but people listened to them at the time because it was labelled as "cool" and now nobody likes them because all their 14 year old fans grew up and found out about better music and realised how shit Limp Bizkit were. "they'll keep playing & Fred will keep singing" Keep telling yourself that. "they never cared about haters" Is that why they changed their style now that nu-metal is dead? Face it, Limp Bizkit's 15 minutes of fame are over and they have no one to blame but themseleves. They're the ones who wrote watered down music that a 5 year old could play with immature lyrics to appeal to 14 year olds. Although it worked pretty well for a while, they were basically digging their graves. All their fans have grown up by now and can't appreciate their immature lyrics and antics. And all the new 14 year olds are now listening to pop-punk and emo because they always go with the trend. So that kinda leaves Limp Bizkit screwed in terms of fan base. And to make it worse, they are now remembered as one of the worst rock bands in history and most of their ex-fans just see Limp Bizkit as one of those embarrasing trends that they followed when they were kids. If Limp Bizkit actually made some decent music instead of being immature to appeal to people in their early teens, then maybe they would be remembered now. If there's one good thing that came out of Limp Bizkit, it's that they provide us with a good example of how mainstream musicians who sell because of marketing and not quality music will never last. |

I must say, I am very disappointed with all you people who come here and bash people for having a different interpretation of this song than yourselves. Everyone has their own interpretation of each song. There is no right or wrong interpretation. When someone explains the meaning of a song they are explaining what it means to THEM, not others. Each person's interpretation often reflects on their personality and life experiences so people may have different interpretations. Now, James Hetfield may have had a particular meaning in mind when he wrote it but that's what the lyrics mean to HIM. Song lyrics are just a bunch of words and sentences arranged in a meaninful way and therefore could mean very different things to the author and the reader. Just because those lyrics mean a particular thing to the author of them, doesn't mean that's the "right" interpretation. Lyrics by themselves mean nothing, they require people to add meaning to them. The meaning of a song only exists as people interpret it and therefore there are many different meanings for each song of which none are wrong. So stop bashing people because they disagree with your interpretation or the popular interpretation. Besides, the text above the comment box says "What does this song mean to YOU?". So by sharing their interpretation of the song, people are only answering the question they were asked in the first place. After all, that's the whole point of this site, to discuss and express what a song means to YOU so people can find out about a wide variety of interpretations. Bashing people just because they disagree with your interpretation or the popular interpretation just discourages discussion. |

| Im not gonna waste my time listing my bands because you'll just say that they're shit. What I will say is that old metallica was not noise, it was technical, it had great riffs, it had good melodies in their slower songs (thrash metal was never supposed to have a lot of melody), great drumming and great solos. New metallica just replaced the riffs with a few chords, took out the solos and didn't replace them with anything better, the vocals suck and they slowed the music way down and now it just sounds like any other crappy nu-metal or pop-rock band. It's not even thrash metal anymore. And just because they are more popular now doesn't mean that they are better quality. Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys have sold millions of records and we both know how shit they are. Metallica just became more popular because they became more radio-friendly and got heaps of promotion because the record companies don't want people to hear quality music like old metallica because they'll realise how crap all the shit played on the radio is which would then make it harder for the record companies to make any poser into a popular musician. Yeah i think that first paragraph is the key to figuring that out but its too vague to know for sure. The "but damn, it ain't right" line could either mean: a. the court's verdict is wrong (he's innocent) or... b. he thinks it is morally wrong to execute him The line "there's someone else controlling me" could mean that he is mentally ill or tried to plea insanity. That's the only explanation i could think of. If this is the case then it contradicts option "a" so he is guilty. Unless it means something else of course. |

This song is definately about someone who is sentenced to death and his thoughts while he sits in the electric chair. That part is pretty obvious. However, whether or not the song says that he is not guilty is debatable. "Guilty as charged But damn it, it ain't right There is someone else controlling me" The "guilty as charged" refers to the court's verdict that he is guilty. The other two lines could possibly suggest that he is innocent and that the court made a mistake but im not quite sure. |

There's nothing wrong with religion itself, it's just that a lot of people who claim to be religious are just hypocrites who judge others for minor things while they don't even bother to try to follow God's commandments themselves and give religion a bad reputation. Most religions (apart from cults) preach good things like the 10 commandments which are for the benefit of society and the 'golden rule' which states that you should treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. If everyone in the world followed those rules then the world would be a much better place. Unfortunately, a lot of people who claim to be religious choose to ignore these rules. Instead, they put all their effort into rituals such as going to church which means nothing if you don't understand your religion or make an effort to follow its commandments. They just go to church every Sunday and act like an arsehole the rest of the week. These people also happen to be the most outspoken and receive the most attention from the media because the media always focuses on negative things. Then atheists see these people and they get the wrong impression of religion when in fact a lot of atheists are good people and would benefit from it. A lot of these people are also very judgemental and love to criticise other people's actions and "morals" even though they do exactly the same things and worse in their personal lives. They love to criticise other people and things without knowing anything about them. For example, a bunch of Christian fundamentalists made a huge fuss when Iron Maiden’s the Number of the Beast came out. They started acting like a bunch of arseholes, claiming that Iron Maiden were Satanists and burning their records. If they had actually bothered to read the lyrics and find out the meaning of the song they would have found that it had nothing to do with worshipping Satan but was simply about a bad dream that their bassist had. But instead they chose to make assumptions based on the title of the album and cover art and came out looking like a bunch of ignorant arseholes and reinforcing the negative stereotypes of Christians. These people think they are doing God a favour when in reality they are just turning people away from Christianity with their hypocrisy. It’s people like this that drive people into listening to shitty bands like Deicide and claiming to be Satanists. So in conclusion, religion is good but a lot of the people who claim to follow it are just arseholes and give it a bad reputation. |

It's about governments using them to start wars for their own benefit (like stealing resources) and how the soldiers are forced to blindly follow without questioning whether or not what they are doing is right. This relates to the major theme of the album "Master of Puppets" - people being controlled by someone for that person's benefit without realising it (puppets). This theme is also communicated in other songs of the album such as master of puppets, sanitarium and leper messiah. | |

This is a great song. Very emotional. At first i thought this was a love song about a guy who broke up with his gf and now wants to get back together but now that i've read some of the comments it seems to be about a guy who's girlfriend dies and the emotions that he goes through in mourning such as denial and guilt. "Come up to meet you, Tell you I'm sorry, You don't know how lovely you are, I had to find you, Tell you I need you, Tell you I set you apart" The lines "Tell you I'm sorry" and "Tell you I set you apart" suggest that he feels guilty about her death and feels that it was partly his fault. The line "I have to find you, tell you I need you" suggests that he is in denail about her death. "Questions of science, Science and progress, Did not speak as loud as my heart" This paragraph describes how he was in denial about her death. He is saying that the logical scientific evidence of her being dead (questions of science) was not enough to overcome his emotion of denial ("Did not speak as loud as [his] heart"). But the fact that this is said in the past tense shows that he has now accepted her death. "Nobody said it was easy" "No one ever said it would be this hard" This describes how he finds it difficult to accept her death and not feel guilty about it. This song is very realistic because denial and guilt are both very common emotions assocotiated with mourning the death of a loved one. |

I guess this song could be interpreted as being about religion or war or whatever but I think it's specifically about drug addiction and how the drug addicts become "puppets" of the drug dealers. "Needlework the way, never you betray life of death becoming clearer Pain monopoly, ritual misery chop your breakfast on a mirror" The "Needlework" is most likely referring to the use of heroin. "Taste me you will see more is all you need you're dedicated to how I'm killing you" the "more is all you need" line refers to how people get addicted to the drug and all they want is more. "Your dedicated to how I'm killing you" refers to how the drug addict's addiction is makes them "dedicated" to they way that the drug dealer is killing them by selling them drugs because they are addicted to it and cannot stop. Either way, what most people would agree on is that a major theme of this song and the whole "Master of Puppets" album is many people being controlled by someone without realising it (puppets) and this theme also comes up in many other songs in the album such as Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Disposable Heroes and Leper Messiah. |

| What annoys me is that a lot of people (especially christian fanatics) just look at the title of the song without even listening to it or reading the lyrics and just assume that it is satanic. But if you look at the lyrics you'll find that it isn't and apparently it's about a bad dream that the bassist Steve Harris had. | |
