I heard this song for the first time today, and since it has been one of those lazy Saturdays, I have probably listened to it about ten times. So basically..I love it. I think this is about Mr. Pick's struggle with depression, and possbibly being in rehab ("With no shoelaces no fork and no knife I guess they don’t trust me with my own life"). Anyway, whatever it's about... I like his voice and the whole song. I suspect I will be purchasing this CD very soon. |

I don't think it is a metaphor at all. Have you ever heard of a song that tells a story? This is one of those. It is telling the story of a bank robbery (yes, a bank robbery) and the feelings of one of the members involved in the heist. Tom Kalnoky has a history of writing songs in this storytale manner--listen to "Kristina She Don't Know I Exist." And as far as the song not being about a bank robbery, how many songs actually come right out and state EXACTLY what they are about? The song shouldn't need to go "Get in the van, it's time for a bank robbery," if you catch my drift. One can infer from the lyrics that this tune is probably about an organized bank robbery. Guns..Ski masks..Vans..all allude to a bank robbery. On a different note.. Streetlight fucking rules. |
