This was originally a Morning Glory song(Ezra's other band). Just because the chorus is harmonized, that doesn't put it anywhere near Blink-182. |

Politically correct? In "Gay Rude Boys Unite" he says, "I'm not P.C., I'll shoot your kid at school cause he's gonna grow up to be a fuckin' asshole just like you."
Leftover Crack is many things, but politically correct is not one of them. |

I heard this song's about his girlfriend killing herself. Which would perfectly explain the lines, "and as the day fades/no one investigates/nobody answers as she calls his name/another victim, somewhere in a shallow grave/
i want to hold her and tell her: it's not your fault" |

Yeah, it's extremely straightforward. I don't think this songs leaves anything open to interrpretation. I fucking love it. |

Ronnie Biggs was a dick. He had a small part in the train robbery that ended up leaving a man a vegetable. That's not "never hurting no body."
Love this song. Dennis Lyxzen from Refused and The (International) Noise Conspiracy did a great cover of this song. You can find it on youtube if you just type in "Dennis Lyxzen Bankrobber". |

I've never taken this as a love song. I've always taken it as he's speaking to a friend. Perhaps one that passed away, and he's telling the person that he looks forward to seeing them after death. Try and look at it that way, I think it's more fitting than talking about some girl. |

My guess: Murder. Whose? Not sure. Anyone's I guess. Always reminds me of "In Cold Blood" (the book). |

My perception: This song is about Jim dealing with a loved-ones(perhaps his grandfather's or cousins's) death. |

"Eddie" could be a friend, or he could just be one of thousands of people in that situation. I've always perceived he's speaking of the latter. |

This sounds like the closest thing to a love song that the Misfits ever came to. |

This is song is about Jim Ward dealing with the death of his grandfather while on tour. In an interview with Rockpile Magazine he said after the death of his grandpa(which he said was the worst thing that's ever happened to him) Sparta went back out on tour. Jim said that was the worst time of all, privately mourning his loss while still trying to please everyone on tour. That's what this song is about. |

It could be about Holocaust. The "virus" is fascism and the Nazi ideaology. "Cardboard town" as someone said, is a fake city, it could be the ghettos. |

I think this song is pretty straightforward, but then again, few of their songs are, so I could be wrong. I take this song as a prison break. "Library laundromat" could mean that the escapees communicate through notes hidden in the laundry. Think about it. |

| Thursday – Ian Curtis Lyrics
|
First off, Ian Curtis hung himself with his belt in his kitchen. That is a fact. And now that that is clear, I don't think Geoff Rickley is really old enough to remember when Ian Curtis died, he was about 4 at the time. I came to that conclusion when I read an interview with him and the magazine asked how he felt when Kurt Cobain died. Geoff said he was 16 and he remembered he was going to a show to sing for a band for the first time, and the drummer of the band made fun of Kurt, so Geoff turned around and left without performing.
Second, although this song is an amazing tribute to Ian Curtis and Joy Division. I do not think it is entirely about him. If you notice on the inside sleeve of Waiting, at the bottom of the first page it says that "Porcelain" is dedicated to a kid named Kevin and it urges gun shops to do proper background checks. What I deduced from this is that Kevin was a friend of Geoff's who shot himself. Now, I know the majority of Thursday's songs are about Geoff's friends passing away, but I've always had this feeling that Ian Curtis is about the same person as Porcelain. And then is again referenced in "Marches and Maneuvers" with the line, "one part the gun shot we heard,
one part the screams mistaken for laughter, one part everything after, " which sounds like someone killed themself at a party, and this just sounds like it would make sense with the line,"We heard Ian Curtis kill himself again/In your bed."
This is just my take, if anyone has read an interview or talked to Geoff personally and asked about this song, please clarify what it's about. |

"Great words won't cover ugly actions/Good frames won't save bad paintings!" That is why Dennis Lyxzen is one of my all-time favorite lyricists.
Nirvana is catchy with good lyrics, and I'd like to see you play the bass as well as Matt Freeman. |

| Against Me! – I Still Love You Julie (Hanging on for a Scam) Lyrics

Same thing happened to me. I was in my best friend's basement and he said,"Hey, I got something you might like." So he turned on Crime and I heard Burn. I thought,"Damn, this is fuckin' cool." Then I Still Love You Julie came on and it was like a fuckin' freight train to the chest. Something just clicked and I've been hooked ever since. Although I must admit, I do prefer the acoustic versions of this song and Walking over the electric versions on Axl Rose. |

I think the only vocals Jim does on his own in this song are the,"So I guess this is goodnight" and,"No vents open/All settlements new/A second native/For deserved growth." I do think it is definitely Cedric singing the,"Snake charmer..." and "Make them itch..." as well as the,"500 times." |

I've been really intrigued by all the takes I've read on this song. This is by far near the top of my list for favorite ATDI songs. But, I've always taken this song to be about producing freedom for your own mind, self-education and finding your own truth. For instance, "We sample from the shelves/Tore a page out from this chapter/Deface the essays in the book that your reading" I think that's saying, look around for truth and don't believe everything you hear. Then the chorus of,"Tell us, is the black box lying?" Which could mean the News that is dispersed through the TV each night, most of which is censored and distorted beyond repair. I think the song also touches the feeling of isolation and depression when buying into the Sytem. "Are we suppose to die alone?" So, really I think this song is just about individuality and self-determination. I won't sau for certain, the only ones who know for sure are Cedric, Jim, Tony, Paul and Omar. |

In an interview Tony said he wrote the song, but he didn't give a reason. And, when ATDI played the Astoria in London in February of 2001 Cedric said,"This was written in Mother's Day blood. So I hope you can have some respect and understanding for that." |
