Kings of Convenience – Winning a Battle, Losing the War Lyrics

The song is about unconditional love. Though I relate quite strongly to it on a slightly different level, reminds me of a very co-dependent relationship I was in with a heroin addict. Being there and doing all you can, sacrificing yourself for a tragic figure despite a very poor outlook. |

maybe about a prostitute he meets at a whorehouse? and all the bullshit talk before the sex and the regret afterwards, even though he knew exactly how everything would pan out. |

What an amazing song...very powerful. Didn't have much of an idea what it was about, sounded a bit like a love song, maybe a relationship he's struggling through day to day. |

Its about the singularity, mankind's evolution to a higher or different state of consciousness. Evangelion springs to mind. Or maybe about the end of the world. |

Envy – The Unknown Glow Lyrics

This song, like most other Envy songs, is full of meaning. His pain and emotion is tangible in every moment in the song. This fifteen minute anthem is a journey. I almost come to tears in the last 3 minutes - it is incredibly emotive, I cannot believe how the right combination of chords can instantly tug at you, in an involuntary way, without you helping it at all. The band has mastered it in their 15 or so years of existence I think. I don't think I will ever grasp the true meaning of the lyrics, as I'm sure a lot of it is lost in the translation unfortunately. |

Queens of the Stone Age – In My Head Lyrics

drugs. specifically cocaine, and lots of it. if you've ever been sitting around in a lounge or something on a coke bringe with music blaring away and a friend or two nearby, and you're chatting away, doing lines, chatting again, and then s/he gets up to take a piss or get a beer/whatever & usually takes longer than he said and by then you've lost all momentum and the convo feeling is gone so just turn up the music to drown out negative feelings and numb things further.
i think this is the situation and feeling he is trying to encaspulate. may be wrong, but that's how i see it based on my experieces with drugs. |

Nine Inch Nails – Sunspots Lyrics

I think it's about being emotionally numb. He tries to feed off other people emotionally, initially brought on by lust and desire, drawing as much as he can from the act of intercourse, but realizing that it all soon fades away and he is back to square one, with nothing left inside but to stare at the sun. |

Nine Inch Nails – With Teeth Lyrics

this song is about being drawn into a dark sexual web, proabably sado-masochistic (I think Trent used to be into it) and then later trying to get out of it but struggling to do so because he keeps remembering how good it made him feel, the thoughts being vivid and intrusive. "She" may or may not be a single person, it may just be a metaphor for the S&M lifestyle. It is in many ways similar to "Closer" in theme. |

fantastic 'like' song. I do not think it is a love song. But it is fantastic. I love it at high volumes. His voice control is sublime. I like the bit about "you're not right in the head, this is why I like you"/"and nor am I" |

Stone Temple Pilots – Big Empty Lyrics

To me its about, for example, meeting a girl at a party who you may or may not know, getting completely slaughtered/boozed up, then trying to get her to come home with you in a cab/your car but all the while trying to avoid confrontational or awkward conversation that might fuck up your chances of getting her into bed. I feel that's the crux of the song because I can strongly relate to the situation!
I heard Scott introduced the song once by saying its about fucking someone in a car, and so it kind of makes sense in a way. It's just an interesting take on a kind of common human situation. |
